Two showers only one on pump

I am currently renting a house in Dublin city centre area. two bed/two bathroom with showers There is a small pump in the hot press, however in only kicks in when the ensuite shower is in use. Its not a major issue as I live on my own, but I am curious as to why it would be set-up like this

Probably best to speak with your landlord first and find out if it has always been like that. Maybe it is an issue that he is unaware of and he may be able to get it rectified for you.
