Buying jacket from the states

I could be ordering a jacket from America. Its a few hundred euros worth so I am wondering would there be VAT or import duty on it if I got it shipped to Ireland? The alternative it to get it shipped to Canada where I live. Thanks.

I'd ship it to Canada instead, between duty and fees either An Post or the courier charge it can add quite a bit...
