Appreciate that, this is not a ship thing as such, the crossings from Dublin Port to Holyhead at 0545 and 1510. and the Holyhead to Dublin Port at 0855 and 2030 do not carry walk on (foot) passengers at any time, regardless of which ship is operating the route.

In some respects, it's quite inconvenient, as the 0545 Dublin outbound that arrives in Holyhead before 0900 would be very handy for onward train connections to London, as the overnight has no connection till nearly 0500, so a long, often cold wait at Holyhead.

indeed, but the ship that regularily plys these times is the 400pax Nordica with capacity for up to 375 cars.
There simply isn't the spare passenger capacity there to allow budget priced foot passengers use up the limited passenger capacity over someone paying multiples more bringing a car, and multiples of that again for a truck.

Ballycastle to Port Ellen (Islay) now added by Kintyre Express. Whiskey Express more like - there's nothing else on Islay!

Few updates, as the thread has "emerged" from obscurity.

Dublin Holyhead, Irish Ferries have a second cruise ferry (Epsilon) that operates during the week, (see timetable for service days, as it's not 7 days) and does a sailing from Dublin To Cherbourg on a Saturday/Sunday. It does not carry foot passengers on the Dublin holyhead service.

The Stena HSS service from Dun Laoghaire has now ceased operation completely, the HSS is still tied up at Holyhead, but it's not moved in a long time now.

The HSS is no longer in Holyhead - it has been sold and towed to Turkey.
