    Hi all,

Am working temporarily for 4 weeks- am halfway through. Gave the employers my P45 on first day and filled in bank details with the so assumed all was fine and they were sorting it with revenue.

Employer gave me back my P45 last week and said I need to go to revenue and get details of my cut off point and tax credits etc. Went and they told me I missed the deadline for submitting this by ONE day. They told me bring the P45 back and tell the employer to use the figures on that on a Week 1 basis.

What exactly does this mean? The staff are due to be paid on the 23rd of this month- what is going to happen to my pay? And if it is over taxed, when do I get this back? Seeing as I will be finished with this company on the 23rd.

    Anyone??

week 1 basis means you get 1 week or 1 month of tax credits each week/month

If overtaxed apply for a p21 in the new year.

If you are overtaxed you will get it back but you need to apply for it once it goes over into the new tax year. Register yourself with PAYE online and you can request a P21 Balancing statement in 2016 where Revenue will recalculate your whole year's taxes due and refund if appropriate.

For future, when you start with a new employer, ring revenue yourself and ask your credits and cut offs be assigned to the new job - often quicker than letting employer doing it and at least you know it was done.
