    Hello
    My wife and I are accessed separately.
    AFAIK it's €67,600.
    That's 42,800 for me and 24,800 for her.

    She earns around €11k per year.
    Can I get access to her unused €13,800 rate band?

    Nope but how are you getting some of her cut off and still be seperately assessed?

    Thanks toadfly,

    Sorry, I meant to say jointly lol

    I have three jobs and trying to squeeze them all in 42,800 is hard.
    In calculating rate bands, can I take away pension contributions?
    So if I get 40k for one job, could my rate band be 38k if I make 2k pension contributions?
    Therefore, leaving me with 4,800 in the 20% band for the remaining jobs?
    Hope I am making sense here.

    Yes pension contributions aren't taxable so your taxable pay is your gross minus your own pension contributions. USC & PRSI are calculated on your original gross not minus pension.

    Great, so here are my calcs (multiplied the fortnightly numbers by 26)

    Gross = €39,700
    minus
    Avc = €600
    Pension - Grouped = €1,150
    1.5% Sp&Ch = Pen = €595
    Pension Related DED = €2,090
    = 35,265

    Therefore I still have (42,800 - 35,265 = ) €7,535 left in 42,800 bracket?

    Second job would earn (all that is left in 20% bracket) €7,535 roughly so third job would all be in the 40% bracket.
    Have I got it straight ? :)
