Or maybe its just getting better?

I watched the replay of Stoke last night and they managed to sign Shaqiri who is a class bit of stuff, 2 assists and they were both outstanding

As was Mahrez for Leicester with his hat trick

I don't think you are giving much respect or credit to these improving teams

yea all the teams have improved with all the extra investment but Man City, Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham, Liverpool do you think they have improved?? Compared to a few years ago they have all gotten worse. Every year there will always be a team or 2 who surprise people and do well. Leicester are that team this year.

Nobody seems good enough to win the league this year. A good run of 8 or 9 games in a row could be good enough to win the league this season.

Is there anybody really saying LVG should stay if we miss out on top 4.

    No

That's it. This league is there for anyone who comes out of Christmas with a decent good run of results and then goes on a run of 8 or 9 wins. I have a feeling it might be Arsenal. If we are there and about a in the new year either on top or a couple of points off and if we sign maybe two players and get our attack going we will have a chance ourselves. There has been a stagnation in terms of the top teams in the league but a strengthening elsewhere. A result of the vast swathes of cash through the league. Everyone is taking points off each other and there will be some more shock results yet. It's just a matter of who keeps their **** together and getting on a run and putting pressure on those around them. Going to be interesting for sure.

as i said yesterday, the football cant get any worse so at least thats a positive - maybe Memphis will have a great second half of the season, Rooney and Mata could finally get going...if those 3 things happen, then we have a chance but at the moment Rooney and mata look a shadow of themselves.

we still have a great chance of making the top 4, even though others around us are scoring more goals and playing much better than us.

You've just summed up the counter argument to LVG being the problem.

Exactly. The funny thing is, such a reactionary and impatient view point is exactly what a 16 yr old would have. Thats how they would react after a 0-0. "This isn't good enough, I cant see the long term here, I WANT RESULTS NOW!!!!, WAH WAH"

Most posters fears/comments stretch back as long as 18 months, you can paint it as reactionary if you want though.

Sure his first season was good

    No, it wasn't.

Our football last season was just as crap as it has been this season. Just because Manchester United sneaked back into the top four does not mean we had a good season, it just means we scraped by at the bottom level of our expectations.

So what do people think of the Rooney alcohol rumours?

If true, I think he will be definitely gone in the summer.

Alot of rumours stating he he's been at it for a while.
I would like to think if his form continues to decline that would be the only reason he should be sold on. Would be a shame to see him go for booze reasons.

What's the expression, you can't build a house without a solid foundation..

In this case, Man United are the house, Van Gaal was brought in to fix the foundation (defence & midfield, the midfield specifically which was neglected for the good part of a decade), which he has done to a degree, forward line still needs working/tweaking on, clearly he's building a solid foundation for the next manager to then expand upon once he's retired.. Sure his first season was good, his 2nd season, come back to me in May, and we still have Champions League football (hopefully that doesn't go tits up after Tuesday night), there are some positives - we're well in the mix in terms for the title (so far), we've still got the F.A Cup to come in January.. As for the football, 2 seasons now, and it's still slow and laboured, hopefully it'll click fully next season and United are back to the swashbuckling football we all knew and loved under Sir Alex Ferguson.

TL;DR Have patience, things will come good eventually, Rome wasn't built in a day & Van Gaal is readying the club for the next manager to take over.

Hopefully someone makes sense of my rambling, now excuse me, i'm going back to sleep.

its Man Utd, we have one of the best foundations in world football. One of the best training grounds in the world. He sold too many players that didn't need to be sold, Rafael, Nani, van Persie/hernandez, Januzaj should have been kept on for at least another season. He took a lot of the foundation out himself. di Maria was made look like a former shadow of himself.

Its statements like this that show your not even interested in serious discussion.

    Couldn't be worse? See Chelsea.

It could be much worse. We could be leaking goals and getting dominated but we are not. You just plainly refuse to give LVG for anything don't you. Its pathetic.

Januzaj is on Loan..makes sense really more potential which we have enough off already. Get him games elsewhere.

As for the rest...deadwood or inconsistent. Not good enough

He might play better pissed,it didn't do George Best any harm (for a while)

    What are they?

During tests at Carrington he had alcohol in his system, missed a day of training after an England international due to alcohol are some of the rumours going around.

What crap. Just becAuse we are Man UTD we automatically have one of the best foundations in world football? How can people think and type such tosh.

No. You are not given a good foundation, you build one, football goes through cycles, up and downs, you build and rebuild all the time. Nothing is a certainty or given up for free. Would a liverpool fan in the 80's make sense saying "its Liverpool, we have one of the best foundations in world football. " No and neither are you.

LVG made ADM look bad? Oooooooook, i can tell you have no interest in anything other than a negatively biased view of our manager now. ADM didn't want to be at UTD, his mind was in Paris most of his time here, he was giving so little effort and playing so poorly that Young kept him benched from October onwards. Moving him out was 100% the right decision.

It did. He regularly went missing in the middle of the season to go to London.
He quit utd at 27 to fart around partying.

I find it hard to believe especially with modern sport and he has been at the top so long he knows his diet is important during the season.

But then again, Plenty of people have drinking problems. Hopefully it's not true.
Would be a terrible shame for his son.

Hopefully it's a case of zero tolerance and he had wine or something with dinner and his blood alcohol was a little high but immaterial.

You have to laugh at the way stories evolve on Twitter :)
He will have attacked LVG with an empty Jack Daniels bottle before the end of the day.

A few bad results and some fans go into crisis mode. Their world is falling apart, they lose a grip on reality and end up saying and believing silly things,

    See every transfer window ever.

From what was said on UWS and RedIssue - Di Maria was very happy at United up until around March or April, and his elaving was as much down to LVG indicating he didn't care if he left.

I do think part of Di Maria's problems at United were down to LVG having no clear idea of what he wanted the team to do, never mind Di Maria himself.

He looked good on the left side of our 442 diamond that we started with, and which died with that 5-3 loss to Leicester. We then went through formations with Di Maria on the left win, on the right wing, in the number 10 position and as the target man - we never settled on a formation until the last couple of months of the season and shunted players around. I do feel ADM suffered from this. It also has to be said I think he lacked the stomach for the fight required to regain his form and his place, and was happy enough to go elsewhere. I think PSG were his first choice before signing for us, but I don't think it was a case of him never wanting to be at United - i do think he was happy to sign for and play for United; it just didn't work out for him or us.

Di Maria, Mata, Rooney, RVP, Herrera are all attacking players who have struggled to develop under LVG. martial is struggling now too, imo, in this side. Defensively we have improved under LVG, but all of the attacking players in our squad are struggling under him and surely it has to be said that it can't be all the players fault - LVG is the common theme.

Best foundations as in one of the best stadiums (sold out every week)

one of the best training grounds.

£300m to spend in the bank.

It was van Gaal that decided to go into the season with only 2 strikers, 1 a 19 year old unproven player, the other on the decline.

Also if di Maria didn't want to be at united why did van gaal sign him?

he has a serious turnover of players. Marcos Rojo would have been sold this summer or van gaal was trying to sell him but he got injured.

He nearly sold Fellaini to Napoli the year before that but that fell through as he got injured.

He has already spent 300m on players and people saying we still need to spend on another 5-6 players!!!

Good. So you admit what you just said about LVG making him look bad was made up tosh, thanks.

Smalling, Shcweinsteiger, Shaw, Darmain, Martial, Blind and Herrera have all looked good under LVG.

    Try harder next time.

It wasn't me that said it, try to keep up.

And your little list of the players who looked good under Van Gaal can easily be dissected, do you want me to go ahead and do it?

7.4 shots per game under Van Gaal compared to 15.3 less than five years ago at Old Trafford. It is their worst shots-per-game average since Opta began collecting the data in 2006.

Mate? Thats such a ridiculous question I can't tell if your serious or not.

Myabe he signed him because ADM said he wanted to sign, maybe because ADM was a very good player, maybe because any team in the world would have wanted the player.

Its not LVGs fault ADM decides he doesn't like the club/city and downs tools. He didn't look bothered.

The robbery at his house was probably it for him, he wanted out and got out.

Nothing LVG could do about any of that.
