How to calculate uncorrected visual accuity (or Can I join the Guards)

In order to join the Gardai one needs uncorrected visual accuity of " 6/18 (correctable to 6/9, 6/12) unaided by glasses or contact lenses"

I had an eye test in SpecSavers recently and I asked for the prescription, they could not tell me whether or not I meet the "6/18"

i.e. they could not interpret the prescription

Is there some calculator where I can input my OD and OS sphere, cyclinder and axis and work backwards to workout my unaided vision number?

Did you ask the optometrist or a member of the floor staff? Go ask the optometrist they will be able to tell you if you are meeting the standard.
