Does anyone still watch The Simpsons?

The new ones that is. I can't even make it through half an episode, they are absolutely awful. Who could possibly still be watching??

I still watch, more in hope than expectation. Still get the odd funny line or scene that makes me chuckle, Dr Hibbert style, but its increasingly rare.

Classic ones? Yeah. Newer ones? I suppose I would have to be watching the tv at the right time. I'm not bothered about watching Simpsons anymore, but if it was on while I was scanning the channels I would probably watch.

The Simpsons has been sh1t now for longer that it was actually good. Someone needs to do the decent thing and put it out of it's misery. Nothing made in the last 13 years or so was decent.

I came across the last 15 minutes of one the other evening and barely cracked a smile. It's sad really to see it being so poor, the standard of writing has fallen off the edge of a cliff.

It's a money machine though and won't be retired until the ratings go into the toilet.

Should have killed it about 12 years a go. Some of the best tv series are the shortest because the creators bowed out when the going was good. The Simpsons was too much of a money making racket for that though. To this day it is living off episodes created 15 years a go.

It even recycles some of the jokes from the classic episodes in new episodes.

Even whole storylines. We put them on for the kids the odd time and when I first noticed them recycling a storyline I thought it was an intentional joke but as more episodes went by more rehashed storylines popped up.

It's become too much like Family Guy now, a series of sh!t scenes with a flimsy plot to tie them all together. Although unlike family guy they manage the odd decent line.

The only likeable character in it these days is Moe because he represents all the cynicism and loathing older fans have towards it.

For me roughly seasons 3-10 were pure gold, after that it started to decline but I still watched it up until season 13 or 14 but it became unwatchable after that, just pure sh1te. In fairness though it's very hard to keep a series fresh after all these years but it is a mad thought that there are probably more bad simpsons episodes than good ones.

Ps, no matter when an episode was released anything before 2000 is 'The Simpsons' and thing after 2000 is a 'newer episode'.

Don't know why, I don't even enjoy it much anymore, just habit.

That sums it up for me. Every TV series no matter how good will get to a point where it has simply run its course. The Simpsons reached that point a long time ago and should have been retired gracefully. Had they done so it would have gone down in history as a legendary TV show but now it's in danger of being remembered as an over-bloated dinosaur, like an ageing rock band making sh1te music who should have hung up their guitars years ago.

Watched it once; I stuck it for about 15 minutes before turning off. I've never understood the (admittedly widespread) appeal of it. Obviously, millions disagree with me.

I still watch the classic seasons regularly enough. It really was brilliant for about 10 or 11 seasons. Since then though it's become depressingly bad. Grasping at slapstick straws to try and draw any sort of laughs from the audience.

South Park is the only one of the old guard of animated comedy that can still pull it off but even that's very hit and miss over the last few seasons.

I saw they were playing through the classic episodes on Sky1 again and set them to series link, two a day I think it is. Honestly had forget how good the older episodes were. Genius writing.

Surprisingly hard to find the old episodes either online or on TV. The new (rubbish) ones are always on television while the old ones are rarely shown now.

I haven't watched the Simpsons in I don't know how long. Twenty years maybe? Bart must be pushing 50 at this stage. Is Homer a pensioner yet? Last episode I saw Marge was having an affair and their marriage was about to fall off a cliff. I gave up at that point. It was horrendously bad. Like a cartoon version of Coronation St. or Eastenders or something. *shudder*
