BA Cityflyer hearing back to Dublin Airport having just taken off from there?

    https://www.flightradar24.com/CFE71E/82c751a

EDIT: It could be an FR24 glitch. It looks as if it's holding over the Irish Sea, though, despite having taken off from Dublin.

Negetive, its from London City, and had a go-around at DUB (as posted by me above) and due to the lack of ADB-S radar on the E170 on the BA fleet it went off radar and appeared back on as departed from Dublin due to an FR24 glitch.

EI992 nearing Dublin Airport from Belfast, so must have diverted there earlier.

Yep an earlier flight from CPH-DUB diverted to BFS. Several flights from SNN and LPL returning to DUB too.

why did they send the ryanair onto the runway to wait while 992 was so close AND while an inspection was going ahead?

The inspection had finished and the gust had just increased to 42kts, so the Ryanair may have went out of limits for takeoff. Not the first time that happened today.

oooh, think they might have to call it a night now. Birmingham wanted them on final approach by midnight

But Shannon is 24 knots to Dublins 23 knots?

Gusts are probably different and the wind direction at Shannon is more favourable than at Dublin, basically less of a crosswind.

At 23:30 wind at DUB was 220 degrees 26 gust 39kts (RWY28=280 degrees facing runway)

Wind at SNN was 200 degrees 23knots no gust (RWY24=240 degrees facing runway)

2hrs? Look at the Cologne flight! Was scheduled for 18:45. Also has to do an inbound journey and Cologne is a depressing airport to spend your time.

Pity the poor sods at LGW on the FR119 (21.30) to DUB. Their aircraft operating the FR118 has been waiting for ages at the DUB 28 hold.

Christ guys just got off the Aer Lingus regional from East Midlands a few hours ago, landed after half 5. That was hand on heart one of the scariest experiences of my life. Encountered horrific wind on the descent towards Dublin, then into a holding pattern. Awful time. I honestly don't know how they landed this plane. It's obviously one of those small ATR planes so we were tossed around like anything up there.

Very lucky, flight returning to gate now.
Cologne is a beautiful city, sadly the airport is disappointing enough.
