Can't find HD frequency on my box - just a bunch of extra SD variants.

With all the great Freesat news this week a Saorview announcement of the rumoured Freesat combi box would really top it off.

It might be the last one on your Channel list. Just check as it happened to me too.

Wish it would appear on the RoI Sky epg!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,650 ✭✭✭Rick_

It won't be on the EPG but it will be able to be tuned in by other channels so it can at least be watched.

I've had Channel 5 hd for months as an extra channel on sky hd.

Sky are gonna really feel the pinch next year with so many quality channels and most watched channels FTA. Apart from Sky Movies and Sky Sports all Sky have left is Sky One, Living, Atlantic, Discovery and Nat Geo left amongst a few others and yet they still continue to increase the price of their service up to 2 times a year in some cases.

If I was running a business where my customers were blindly paying I'd increase it too. Even with all the cancellations they supposedly have their profits are still massive.

As an example, the amount of people with pay tv to keep the children entertained is huge and sky will continue to abuse that.

I cant see how or why you would suggest that Sky are abusing anything. Its a business after all and with regards to the service they provide people are free to take it or leave it.

I think if you read my post you will see that I don't have a problem with them doing it. Perhaps abuse is the wrong word but everything else you say is pretty much what I posted.

As of this morning, Freesat EPG data has been added to the Channel 5 HD stream. This only happens, usually, a few days prior to the channel launching on the platform, but has happened on some channels launching within 24 hours (the UKTV channels for example). It isn't expected to launch within 24 hours but no date has been announced as yet, but with this data being added it won't be long now. :)

To be factually correct, The EPG data was added yesterday. Below is quote from digitalspy posted yesterday.

"Freesat EPG data is now being broadcast for Channel 5 HD and DAYSTAR HD (though the latter is not currently named as such). As usual, this is not full programme data and the launch LCNs are likely to change from their current test numbers."

They took their time, but glad to see it is finally happening.

We will be able to receive all UK PSBs HD free to Air, RTE HD free to air. But still no TG4, TV3 OR UTV Ireland HD free to air. Shame on them.

Hopefully we will have them all FTA soon

Off topic but can anyone suggest a UK postcode which will give me BBC 1 HD and BBC2 HD in positions 101 and 102 on the Freesat EPG? I'm not fussy about the variant. Whatever I use I seem to get one or the other, but not both

    G51 1DA is Glasgow

    G51 1DA is Glasgow

It might not be relevant but if you use the catchup services (via a smartdns service) I think that you will lose ITV player with a Scottish postcode as there is no STV player.

Would love SKY NEWS in HD on either Freesat or Freeview.

Kinda ironic that they are the LAST news channel on UK FTA TV to go HD, given Sky's championing of HD over the years (believe in better)!

(Obviously I understand it's because they want subscribers - but for a FTA News channel, it's really poor they aren't HD).

You dont surely expect the mod of any forum to read every single post?

Report the post if you're not happy with the content and the mod will receive an email alert advising him/her of the reported post. :)

Will be great when C5 HD arrives on Freesat, I record the Championship every Saturday night on 5, I missed the HD football highlights when bbc lost the rights.
Hopefully it will bring better luck for Leeds United next season :)

Is Channel 5HD broadcasting in the clear on the above, at present?

No, but will be soon. It has also appeared as a hidden service on DTT so a launch is not far off now. :)

    Thanks.
I misunderstood some post or other ... thought it was in the clear although the encryption was flagged, but I was seeing nothing.

EDIT: Now I know what happened ...... I got it confused with S4C in HD which is now testing in the clear.
