"Converting" UK Paypal acc. to IRL acc.?

    Can I convert my UK PP account to one with IRL address and bank?

    I've read some suggestions that I have to close the account and open a new IRL account.
    I had hoped to maintain my transaction history - and I resent having to pay to close an account.
    (Failed to find anything in PP FAQs and no response from them to my email query)

    As far as I remember I had mine converted years ago, but things T&C's are changing. ;)

    Yes, good idea, I'll resort to the phone. I should know not to expect businesses to reply to emails. It usually as pleasant surprise when they do.

    Update: Closing the UK account was required. No charge levied (contrary to what I'd read somewhere.) Very efficient help desk.
