No background ventilation in house, trickle vents

Just bought a house which has no background ventilation, house is about thirty years old. I will be replacing all the windows in the house soon, will trickle vents in the windows provide an adequate amount of ventilation for the house? Or is wall ventilation the better option? Thank you

We find trickle vents plenty on their own.
