Mini Ninja's sound problem

Just got mini ninjas (Steam game) and there is no sound throughout the game, in settings there is 3 sound options, music, effects and something else all set to highest. Anyone any idea what I can do? Rgds D. it seems to be a common problem I googled around and found I needed to download openAL, it fixed it.
