How hard is it to get into a recruitment agency? This is for my OH not myself, he's sent his CV into a fair few different agencies, don't know if I can name them, for construction work but he hasn't heard back from a single one?

I was under the impression these companies want as many people on their books as they can? He hasn't even gotten a PFO email or anything.

My experience is that they are as useful as tits on a bull..

He's better off talking to the companies directly.

If they have roles that needed to be filled and a candidate has the skills and experience they're very interested. If they don't have the roles they're not interested not matter how experienced or qualified the candidate is.

Most ''Jobs'' advertised by agencies do not exist they are merely bait to harvest as many CVS as possible. This creates the illusion that the agency has access to a large labor force which they can make available to clients looking to fill a role. The agents for the most part do not have a clue about you until such time as they do a database search using specific search terms.

Avoid agency's for construction work at all costs, they're useless, if they do get you some work it'll most likely be short term and on crap money that you'll be waiting a while to see

This seems to be what I've come across more and more. It's bloody ridiculous getting your hopes up.
