I hope this is the right forum.

I'm trying to find a copy of the song.

It was a piss take of Brian Lenihan Snr and was about him not being able to keep his lies in order. (On mature recollection)
The scandal broke in '82, so should be from around then. I thought at first that it was Fatima Mansions, but I can't pin it down.

Here are some of the lyrics:

    I don't remember,
    I don't recall,
I never made no damn phone call.
Ask Mr. Duffy, no, please don't,
I only said it for a joke.

    What phonecall?

Liar, liar, liar, your pants are on fire.

I'd actually like to get some work done today, so any help in tracking this down would be appreciated.

the events happened in 1982 but the scandal was from 1990 when he was standing for president and the story emerged.

    "I don't remember,
    I don't recall"

    is from Peter Gabriel's "I Don't Remember"

    tks Loyatemu,

That would make more sense, I would have been too young in '82 to remember it.

It's driving me crazy that I can't find it.

'Twas neither the 80's nor Fatima Mansions, Johannes. It was this, Paranoid Visions at their belligerent best!

To the best of my knowledge this only ever came out on cassette so you'd do well to find an original (I have one). You should contact the band directly online as they are still very much active and see if they still have it in print or on a newer compilation, etc. All their stuff was self released so they would really be the first ones to ask.
