Etiquette when giving Notice

Hi guys,

Just a quick one for you guys.

I've been offered a new position which I am going to accept.

As I am still in the 6 month probation period with my current job, I am not required to give any notice.

The new job requires 2 work references, one of which I've already cleared with my previous boss.

In regards to the current job and reference, do I notify my current line manager/hr and recruitment manager of my intentions to leave and that they should expect a call?

Also, do I work the remainder of this week as common courtesy (typically I agreed to do my boss a favour and work the night shift this week which isnt my shift at all

)

Any help appreciated!

You don't have to give notice, but it would be a courtesy to your current employer, if you want a reference then at least work the week out.

You might want to start by asking if they will give you a reference. As you are on probation they may not wish to do so.

Could you get a reference elsewhere? I wouldn't want to have to rely on my current place of employment.
