Maryboro, Leinster weather widget

Hi All.
I was helping my niece upgrade and set-up win10 on her laptop. She lives in Portlaoise and is a leaving cert geography student. When we searched for Portlaoise, we were offered the Maroboro widget.
Anyhow, out of curiosity, we were wondering why the old name for Portlaoise (Maryboro) was still in use. We googled to to see what we could find out and got link below. Any ideas? Is there a weather station in Maryboro?

What it is showing there is the weather forecast for a location called Ridge of Maryborough which seems to be a slope/hill.

There isn't a weather station there, it's just taking the output from a weather model and displaying what the model is showing for that location on the map.

Here is Portlaoise.
