Any Audi A 3 drivers?

I am looking at buying a 2009 Audi A3 just wanted to know if anyone has experience of servicing and maintaining one - are the regular servicing parts more expensive than other makes?

It's basically a Golf, so it won't be especially expensive to keep it going.

You forgot to mention the gearbox Colm !! Op try and get a years warranty workmates A3 gearbox and clutch went 10 months into a years warranty dealer sorted it .. not uncommon on these cars ..

That was a 1.6 petrol though Noel. I'd hope the OP wasn't looking at one of those in an 09

what model is it? If it is a diesel, the egr valves go in them at around 60 - 70k (car will enter into limp mode (very slow)) , a fan is connected to this on the diesel engine, the part is approx 500 euro, the labour can be anything from 600 - 1200, maybe ask about this, i speak from experience!! mine was 2010 1.6 tdi. Other than this - all has been well.

jaysus, i wrote a long post there and it timed out!!! basically, if it is a diesel, check if the egr valve has been replaced - they go at approx 60 - 70k. expensive job, part is 500, usually given free froma udi but labour can be anything up to 1200. I speak from experience!!! apart from that, it has been grand. 1.6tdi 2010, cheeers
