If we're actually going to spend crazy money on a player, why not try for Neymar or Bale? Don't see the point in us signing up to the Ronaldo retirement tour.

If Ronaldo could be got for 70 million we would get 3 great seasons out of him in my opinion. He's a magnificent athlete who I don't think will decline as quickly as some people seem to believe. Don't get me wrong, I'd love Bale or Neymar however Ronaldo is probably more getable.

Would take Neymar if given the choice - but would still take Ronaldo over Bale.

Think Bale is the most likely of that trio to be a United player - think Ronaldo will end up at Paris in the summer with Bale at United; and Madrid looking to overhaul their own side, partially, by selling the two.

Think Bale is the more realistic target tbh

I think Ronaldo is more realistic in terms of who Real will be happier to sell; they won't have long to cash in on him, and if they want a massive build this summer, he could finance a significant part. If I were Real, I'd be holding onto the younger Bale for another season or two.

Who cares, Ronaldo coming home would be unbelievable

    Home? Isn't he Portuguese?

If, in some parallel universe, United had a choice between Ronaldo, Bale and Neymar then Ronaldo should be a distant distant 3rd choice.

    Distant distant 3rd? Ha

Still a better player than both of them and would probably win us the league first year he signed

Any reason why Wilson was not in the squad?

Better than Neymar currently? You can't be saying that with a straight face

Where are you people getting this Choice between Neymar, Bale and Ronaldo?

The Only Quote from United themselves is we would like to bring back Ronaldo.

United are not linked with any of the other players currently.

Totally right - nothing has been linking united to any of them in the last couple of weeks. nothing at all.

Also, how dare people use words like 'choice' in order to discuss the merits of players we have, apparently, not been linked with. HOW DARE WE!

    The Press?

    ffs

The Only substance is a Quote from Van Gaal saying

“With Ronaldo, let’s wait and hope.”

I dont know why people set themselves up to get dumped due to Chinese Whispers

And we are looking at other players is what is what he said.

So what you were saying is there has been nothing linking us to these players, when you exclude the press , ok.

So the only time you will allow discussion without b1tching is if, for example, LVG says "We are trying to sign Roaldo".

That seems an utterly reasonable stance to take - yep.

Surely if you are going to read into it the more obvious one is David De Goa to Barcelona

Now that's good punning. Deserves more thanks.

    Is he a right winger?

    :D

If Ronaldo is getting the hump playing under Benitez's structure heavy approach, I doubt he'd enjoy playing under van Gaal tbh.

Rafa will not likely see past Christmas anyway.

In a dream world where we had a choice between Bale, Ronaldo or Neymar, Id take Neymar considering his age.

Id say though in the real world, Ronaldo would be most likely.

If we could get him for £40m then Id take him in a heartbeat.

    £50m would be pushing it.

Any more than that would be silly.

After the thrashing they took last night, if Real Madrid do part ways with Rafa I would wonder what that would do to Bale's desire to stay at the club? He would have played under 3 different managers there in under 3 years, as well as witnessed the fickle nature of their fans. Seeing legends like Ronaldo and Casillas getting booed would suggest that he will never be truly appreciated there, especially since he's already taken plenty of flak himself and vandalism to his car! It looks like Real Madrid will be in Barcelona's shadow for a few years to come so surely a return to the Premier League would seem an attractive proposition to him? I reckon he should be a higher priority target for United than Ronaldo.

It is easy to see why United want world class players like Ronaldo, Neymar, Muller and so on.
Apart from making the team significantly better, they are good for sponsors and help attract other similar world class/top players.

We offered €120 million for Muller, if you read reports buy as we know Bayern were not going to sell.
United have to make a serious play for Ronaldo, for Neymar, well reports last week is we can afford both...but Ronaldo is most realistic.
We need a player of that class, Martial would be back in the center of attack.
We would be in a great position to challenge in all competitions.

It is clear to see United are making progress. It is a project that is succeeding after the disaster of two seasons ago.
United have to be a clear temptation right now for top players.

Defo agree here. So if we can't get Ronaldo, Bale, Muller, Neymar, is there anyone close to that level that we could get?

There is no way 15m will get him anyways as Leicester have no need to sell.. He would have to come out and push and put in a transfer request and all that jazz for them to even consider it. Even if this happened they are still under no obligation to sell and you only have to look at the last few years to see that clubs won't be held to ransom by players anymore

Just checked there, he's 28 which is far too old for 20/25m. Any others we could get?

I think Griezmann and Reus are quite possible.
