I think you do get key "collisions" like this from time to time. As far as I know, they don't make unique keys for each lock, just a fairly wide range of teeth patterns, so someone somewhere with your brand and model of lock can open your lock. They just don't know it.

Probably another good reason to have two locks.

I'm sure key collisions do happen but I'd imagine their quality control should ensure that it doesn't happen in the same delivery to one bike shop or even to the one distributor (within certain time constraints). It may be the case that this is just a coincidence and the two locks came in different deliveries to the same shop months apart.

I have to say that I am impressed with the Kryptonite customer service on the matter though. Without me asking, they said they said to keep or recycle them and they would dispatch new ones.

Just saw what the looked like a father and daughter whizz past me in phibsborough on a 3 person tandem bike (the third saddle was vacant) It looked great.

    Anyone else ever see it?
I saw them three years ago, with all saddles occupied. It's the only trandem I've seen in the wild, so I assume it's the same one.

I've seen a number of tandems in the last year, including three together climbing Howth from the graveyard side a couple of months ago  Never been on one, so I dunno if the hills are harder or easier on them.

That same programme - On Your Bike - had a section on the politics of cycling clubs. The Cyclists' Touring Club (CTC), despite being an advocate for cyclists' rights which brought Britain's first sex discrimination case (it lost), was mockingly known as the Collar and Tie Club, while the Clarion was hard-edge socialist, and proudly working-class.

I passed them that day along Clontarf on my way out to Howth. When I was coming down from the summit on the graveyard side I passed a couple of them. The rest headed straight out to Howth on the flat. I think they were the Slieve Gullion Wheelers.

Saw someone cruising on the N11 in Dublin with these(or similar) on the wheels:

Amazingly cool and great visibility from a 100 metres away as they were so different. Bit expensive but much want.

No - first place I checked.

I'm hoping it's at home somewhere. When my fingers are cold, it gets very loose. (I keep meaning to get it resized as I'm 35kgs lighter now than when I got married 16 years ago).

Damn that's where it came from. You have given it to me, I am 35kg heavier than when I got married 20 years ago.

Visited Amsterdam for the first time this week. Chaos!! Fascinating, surreal and exciting to see SO many bikes tied up on every street, cyclists outnumbering cars, abundant bike lanes and no helmets / hi vis to be seen! Was great overall, despite the fact we were nearly mowed down a couple of times on the pedestrian crossing (green man and all!) when cyclists decided not to stop! That's how it's done there, I guess! Overall, really interesting spot. Looking forward to returning some time, and I hope that some day we have a city here where cycling occurs on that scale.

Yup, self upgrade. Would need the arse kicking from the A1s early on if I'm to have any hope of surviving the Ras.

I got onto Kryptonote about buying 2 locks on the same day that have the same key. It was totally unintentional on my part. They asked for photos and I sent them. They got back immediately to tell me that it shouldn't have happened and they were dispatching 2 new locks to me. I checked the tracking number and they should be on a flight soon.

I wish my Kryptonites had the same key. Want to trade?

It's not just Irish being mangled by machine translation.

    Cyclists Dismount
    signs in Wales:
Welsh-speaking cyclists have been left baffled - and possibly concerned for their health - after a bizarre translation mix-up.

For instead of a road sign telling them to dismount, the Welsh translation informs them that 'bladder disease has returned'.
    http://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/wales-news/road-sign-leaves-welsh-speakers-bewildered-2321082

This a good, non-cycling related one too:
When officials asked for the Welsh translation of a road sign, they thought the reply was what they needed.

Unfortunately, the e-mail response to Swansea council said in Welsh: "I am not in the office at the moment. Send any work to be translated".

So that was what went up under the English version which barred lorries from a road near a supermarket.

I thing the correct translation for "cyclists dismount" is "Oh no they don't"...

The Welsh guy's attempts to render Cyclists Dismount in Welsh were disappointingly wide of the mark. It's a strange sign: an amphibian between stern imperative and toothless pleading.

Think you must have banged the head, you never faked a crash ;)

Rumours abound you did fake staying upright for a full spin sometime last week though.....

Good luck to you; I've been trying to buy another bike for months, and it's becoming increasingly clear to me that it's not going to happen!

Was thinking about heading out with you guys tomorrow morning - unfortunately the rain tonight combined with forecast overnight temperatures mean I'll probably not risk heading out until a bit later in the day:(

    You're more than welcome :)

Looks like about 4 degrees at 08:30 tomorrow so its one to poke the nose out the window and look before committing to fully getting out of bed ....

So to summarize... I probably should suggest to a mate at work with Bike To Work that they should buy that reasonably priced and within reach boardman CX Bike and add their spiked winter tryes too it?

    Interesting.
