    I'm sure key collisions do happen but I'd imagine their quality control should ensure that it doesn't happen in the same delivery to one bike shop or even to the one distributor (within certain time constraints). It may be the case that this is just a coincidence and the two locks came in different deliveries to the same shop months apart.

    I have to say that I am impressed with the Kryptonite customer service on the matter though. Without me asking, they said they said to keep or recycle them and they would dispatch new ones.

    I saw them three years ago, with all saddles occupied. It's the only trandem I've seen in the wild, so I assume it's the same one.

    I've seen a number of tandems in the last year, including three together climbing Howth from the graveyard side a couple of months ago :eek: Never been on one, so I dunno if the hills are harder or easier on them.

    That same programme - On Your Bike - had a section on the politics of cycling clubs. The Cyclists' Touring Club (CTC), despite being an advocate for cyclists' rights which brought Britain's first sex discrimination case (it lost), was mockingly known as the Collar and Tie Club, while the Clarion was hard-edge socialist, and proudly working-class.

    I passed them that day along Clontarf on my way out to Howth. When I was coming down from the summit on the graveyard side I passed a couple of them. The rest headed straight out to Howth on the flat. I think they were the Slieve Gullion Wheelers.

    Visited Amsterdam for the first time this week. Chaos!! Fascinating, surreal and exciting to see SO many bikes tied up on every street, cyclists outnumbering cars, abundant bike lanes and no helmets / hi vis to be seen! Was great overall, despite the fact we were nearly mowed down a couple of times on the pedestrian crossing (green man and all!) when cyclists decided not to stop! That's how it's done there, I guess! Overall, really interesting spot. Looking forward to returning some time, and I hope that some day we have a city here where cycling occurs on that scale.

    Cyclists very rule observant there but Zod help you if you step into a cycle lane.

    It's not just Irish being mangled by machine translation.

    Cyclists Dismount     signs in Wales:
    Welsh-speaking cyclists have been left baffled - and possibly concerned for their health - after a bizarre translation mix-up.

    For instead of a road sign telling them to dismount, the Welsh translation informs them that 'bladder disease has returned'.

    This a good, non-cycling related one too:
    When officials asked for the Welsh translation of a road sign, they thought the reply was what they needed.

    Unfortunately, the e-mail response to Swansea council said in Welsh: "I am not in the office at the moment. Send any work to be translated".

    So that was what went up under the English version which barred lorries from a road near a supermarket.

    The Welsh guy's attempts to render Cyclists Dismount in Welsh were disappointingly wide of the mark. It's a strange sign: an amphibian between stern imperative and toothless pleading.

    So to summarize... I probably should suggest to a mate at work with Bike To Work that they should buy that reasonably priced and within reach boardman CX Bike and add their spiked winter tryes too it?
