Have you ever read about the history of Islam.

Mohammed and his followers began his campaign of rape, murder, racism, banditry, religous persecution and so on in about 628.

As far as I known, the United States was not formed until 1000 years later.

Have you ever read about the Crusades? Spanish Inquisition? The things the Catholic Church did in Ireland and that its leadership covered up?

Evil is not unique to one religion and it never has been.

    Arise children of the fatherland
The day of glory has arrived
    Against us tyranny's
    Bloody standard is raised

Listen to the sound in the fields
The howling of these fearsome soldiers
They are coming into our midst
To cut the throats of your sons and consorts

To arms citizens Form your battalions
    March, march
    Let impure blood
    Water our furrows

Dont feck with the French. Makes the soldier's song sound pacifist by comparison.

Islamic extremism isn't an existential threat to Western civilisation. Violence like this is an atrocity, the deaths are a tragedy, but it's no threat to who and what we are. Liberal democracy can survive the Axis powers it will survive this with a shrug. They want you to get angry, they want you to call for revenge, because they want a war. They want boots on the ground in Syria and Iraq, that's their dream. Turn on innocent Muslims, go to war: you are doing exactly what they wanted to achieve with attacks like this.

Condemn what they've done, recommit to our own values, do our best to prevent future attacks, and leave them to stew in frustration in whatever war-torn shithole they're currently trapped in.

The best revenge is a life lived well.

It's not liberal, it's not PC; I'm not asking you to be nice or weak, I'm saying violence is exactly what they're hoping for, don't be a sucker.

To be fair, invading their countries poses no threat to Western civilization either. Who gives a **** what they want? If we were barbaric savages like them we could carpet bomb every inch of the Middle East and kill half a billion people without losing a single person. They might want to die a glorious death for Allah, but it makes no odds to us one way or the other.

The only issue is the influence of the fear created on domestic policy - they make us scared beyond all proportion to the actual danger and then we regress and bastardise the rights we spent 500 years developing. That is the true danger to our society.

We lose more people to preventable heart disease, cancer, car accidents and the like. Unless they get their hands on nuclear weapons they pose no sigificant threat to people's lives.

Them "attacking the European way of life" isn't what they do, but what they goad us into doing to ourselves.

However, we've proven time and again that we don't have the nerve to hold on to our principles under such harrowing attacks.

It's SO frightening to think that on a practical level, nothing can really be done to prevent these attacks from continuing. You can introduce all the screening you want, all the border controls you want, all the police and military presence you want, but all measures are so easy to circumvent for these monsters.

It's so sad that all the police and French special forces can do is react to these events as and after they occur. If I was a Parisian, I wouldn't be blaming my government for letting us down. I'd just be feeling very afraid and vulnerable right now. :(

I am tolerant of no faiths, they are all hocus pocus.

One particular brand of that hocus pocus is responsible for tonight's reprehensible acts.

It took some immense courage on the part of the police to go in there knowing they could be about to die. They put their sense of responsibility to their compatriots before their own safety. Heroes.

Sympathies and best wishes to all those in France affected by these atrocities.

Is this the case if a christian lives in an country which is predominantly Muslim? Or does it only work one way?

I'll be waiting with baited breath for any of the Muslim hierarchy here in Ireland to come out and condemn what has happened.

Are you incapable of using Google - seeing as you don't seem to recognise a pretty well known song - hint: it was being sung tonight...

“The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command”

The French emergency services, government, and Paris officials all did as good a job as possible with tonight's events.

Do we have any crisis planning for these situations?

    Yes!

I asked for what Christ said.... Your link didn't provide anything from Jesus Christ.
I'm not an expert but I thought Jesus was the same guy as the old testament God - the trinity and all of that.

They don't have to respect any religion, but everyone is obligated not to disrespect any either and be tolerant of others and their beliefs. It isn't rocket science, people are taught this at a very young age.

People have no right to disrespect Muslims based on what happened. The vast, vast majority of them are as outraged as us of this atrocity, and are embarrassed of being labelled as terrorists.

    Tragic night

You'd think the only way to stop this happening is to find and kill them, I doubt reeducation is an option. Eliminate them before they become more competent, bombs inside that stadium could been catastrophic.

Only 1 terrorist was killed by the raid. Two others committed suicide by detonating their vests.

Hollande is in the theatre now. Said to be extremely affected by what he's seen.

Not his biggest fan but if so then fair play to him.

    Yes we do,
Only last year we had a week long military exercise carried out at civilian locations around the country and included military and police units from around Europe

Does anyone honestly believe that if religion had never existed, this kind of thing wouldn't still be happening?

I find that fairly hard to believe.

Why are these bastards not targeting countries which haven't been involved in the pillaging of the Middle East?

People using a tragedy to spew disgusting bile and score points off each other.

    I'm out.

I'm not saying all this is islam's fault but seriously, you don't need to interpret the Qu'ran badly to justify murdering your enemies.

It only takes one brainy cvnt & a sh1tload of gullible followers.

The issue could be about anything. Religion is an easy & handy issue for any troublemaker to use as a platform for his/her own brand of venom.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,732 ✭✭✭kleefarr

May be it all happened because, as some reports have shown, it's too cold in Europe and the internet is slow.

Disgusting as it is, this is going to happen on a more regular basis I believe and we had better make sure we are ready.

It might help if we had the help of the Muslims that are good people and willing to show that they are prepared to finally stand up against this.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,466 ✭✭✭✭RobbingBandit

**** sakes people grow up throwing stupid stuff up here about the IRA and what have you for no reason is disgusting by morning time the death toll will be much higher than 149. Innocent people dead for no reason that will ever make sense to any if us here let alone their poor families and friends.

Stop all your ****ing on here and take a minute to know that you and your remaining family and friends are still alive and well and not now gone.
