I thought backwards compatibility was added in this update ?

I don;t see any of those games in my account.

I was looking for this also but as others have said, I think this is coming later tonight.

From using the UI for 10 minutes, I like it, it is so so much faster and less cluttered.

Ah. Ok. Thanks. Is there a way I can view my xbox 360 arcade live titles I own without setting up the 360 ?

I presume all 360 disc based games will require the disc to play once you've downloaded the game/patch ?
All the digital games that you own will just appear (some time after 8pm tonight / 12 noon Pacific) in your Games and Apps, Ready to Install section.

For the digital games just click, download and you are ready to go.

For disc-based games, you will need to insert the disc.
    - The first time you do this, it will download the digital game from the Store and then play.
    - Every subsequent time, you will need to insert the disc to launch the game (to prove you own it) but it will play the downloaded game from the Hard Drive.

All DLC can be downloaded and played as before.

All your game saves from 360 will work too if you save them to the cloud on 360 first.

Is the controller update only for Gen 2 (3.5mm jack) controllers and not Gen 1?

AFAIK. Mine is a Gen 2 and it notified me immediately after the Xbox update.

If you have a gen 1, you might have to use your cable to check for the update.

Any of the controllers with 3.5mm adapter have wireless update functionality. Super handy!

Has anyone with the new UI tried it with your Sky/UPC/other tv service running through the box? If so whats the experience like?

Only got my XB1 about 2-3 weeks ago, and didn't want to hook up the sky box through it until the new UI arrived, because I didn't want to have to relearn a new layout having just gotten used to the old one.

Plus not sure my wife will like the idea of running tv through the Xbox so definitely wanted to make sure we started with the latest version!

Might be a stupid question but will you be able to play 360 games on different Xbox ones?

For example, I have mass effect so if I download what's required to play it on my One can I still loan the disc to someone else and they'll be able to play it on theirs?

You will need the disc in your xbox to play it if you don't own it digitally.

Yeah, but me using it first won't block others from using it if I loan them the disk will it?

Nah, that'll be fine. You just won't be able to play it as long as your friend has the disk.

I've been running the Saorview box through it since launch, and my wife and kid have no problems with it. Especially since you can now configure it to 'Boot to TV', so when you switch it all on the first thing displayed is the picture from the TV, and the Xbox UI is only displayed when you press the Xbox 'Guide' button.

The only extra thing to do is to ensure that the Xbox is switched on (it doesn't do passive HDMI pass-through).

If you have the Kinect, then when you turn on the Xbox, it will switch on the TV and your Saorview / UPC / Sky box as well. One box to rule them all.

I just learned from Reddit / Xbox Feedback that the newer controllers don't have the IR functionality on the back of the controller, for Kinect to know who has the controller (if you're playing couch competitive), or to determine if you put down the controller so it will put it in power saving mode.

Apparently the new firmware update has Nerfed this functionality on the original controllers as well now.

That's a shame, because it's one more of the good ideas they had for Kinect that users don't miss until it's gone.

So at this rate Kinect is little more than a mic for voice control. I'll still use it for just that. I doubt it will happen but I'd love them to put some investment into Kinect, pushing developers to use it in game. Even just voice commands. Maybe with Cortana, who knows.

Anyone know if there's a way to get the 30 day leaderboard back? Thought maybe there might even be an app.

Not at the moment but I think they're meant to be adding it back soon.

Backwards Compatibility is here now (at least on my Xbox, it is). I've a good few digital titles I didn't know about - Gears 3, Rainbow Six Vegas. All the Vintage SEGA Games are there as well - delighted :) Can't wait to see more titles show up as the months go on

I haven't even had my 360 connected for two years and I've still been getting them, it's resulted in a fair amount of games suddenly appearing in my list.

So what's the deal with the wireless display app, when's that going to actually come to NXOE?

Oh and a few 360 games have started showing up ready to download for me too, lovely stuff.

It's been in preview for months, they put it into the beta apps and games section of the Xbox Preview app for download now I think.

Having all the 360 games suddenly appear in your games list gives so many more games to play (or to flit around undecided on which one to play, jumping from one to the next).

I knew it was worthwhile picking up those 360 GwG titles even without having a 360 for the last two years.

Some games appeared in the list that I didn't even remember picking up.

Although, it does raise a few issues with games and apps.
    • There has to be a better way of sorting or filtering this massive, unwieldy list of games and 'ready to install' games. Even if you could filter by One and 360 titles would help.
    • They have (hopefully temporarily) removed the 'hide from list' option from the ready to install games list and all the games I had previously hidden are back again and there's no way to hide them (... I'm looking at you Zoo Tycoon Demo)

Otherwise a great update, once you unlearn the muscle memory of the old dash.

You really are in a minority there mate. This dash is 100 times better than the previous.

Give it time. I'm starting to see what the fuss is about now. although I think its main objective is Windows 10, but the UI is a huge improvement. You can dance around the menus using the trigger and bumper buttons :) Only problem I have now is I'm a big fan of voice navigation and there are some menu items such as Games Hub that I'm not sure how to get into using voice commands. I'm sure there'll be some instructions out there if I bother to google it.

I wasn't overly gone on it at first but once you get used to the new layout and realise how much quicker everything is there's no going back. Sending messages or invites or setting up a party while snapped is way way way better now. I barely use smartglass any more because the dash is so convenient now.

"Xbox go to game hub". You can always say "xbox select" and that will bring up the overlay that will show you what commands you need to go wherever.

Downloaded a few BC games lastnight, looking forward to playing Dirt some more :)

Don't think my 360 saves are backed up to the cloud, and my 360 is sitting in a box somewhere. Is it a quick job to do?
