Wind picking up at Dublin now, 23kts at 200 degrees. Emirates 777 still requesting RWY 28 though.

EIN105 (EI105) had quite the taxi at DUB this morning. Following a taxi all the way to the threshold of RWY10, the wind changed and they then had to taxi back along the runway and eventually took off from RWY 28.

EK161 is now in its third round of the hold waiting for RWY28 for landing.

Where is Ryanair fr1 off to.left Prestwick heading towards knock . maintenance flight?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,644 ✭✭✭✭smurfjed

Noticed that, 12,000ft is quite unusual, stobarts usually fly at 18,000-24000ft. Any possible reasons for this?

Heading west, was at 41,000ft and turned heading northwest now. Maintenance test flight is a good guess I'd say

Just had a look, 75-95kt winds from FL140 increasing upwards along that Stobarts route this morning.

The stobart on the way to Kerry is battling some nice headwinds now.

Going 120kts ground speed at that altitude is amazing!

    Fr1909 go-around at DUB.

It's landed now. There's a couple of Ryanair flights over the Irish Sea having to do go-arounds.

EDIT: EI673 doing the same now.

Thats a holding pattern (Very common at DUB and very very common at LHR), not a go-around. A go-around is a missed approach, basically when an aircraft is on approach and decides not to land.

    Thanks for explaining that :)

Ops changed to RWY28 at DUB. Wind at 220 degrees now meaning a nice crosswind for both runways.

If an Airline is delayed due to holding or a go-around, do they consider that a delay?

The crabbing from LAPMO is quite noticeable.

In terms of say for example ryanairs ontime listing? I'm sure they do, they have it listed as an ATC delay.

Seen a Transaero just south of Exeter. Clicked on it and it's showing up as Ryanair 4332 from Manchester to Tenerife south. 737-700, EI-EUZ

    Pressurisation
I would imagine if it was pressurisation they would be flying lower than 12 or more likely not flying at all.

Edit: but I may be wrong.

Moderate icing enroute to the DUB Vor descended from FL160. Head winds stayed constant all the way down to FL080.

Does transiting the Dub VOR area at a lower FL make the work load heavier with regard to being kept clear of arrivals and departures into DUB?

That is not EI-EUZ. It is Ryanair EI-EKR using the wrong HEX code.

    Plain sailing for you faceman.
Its 8C, cold, wet and miserable here in Dublin and likely to be that way for the next few days. It's 20C at the moment in Spain and forecast temperatures of between 21C to 23C for the rest of the week.
    I know where I'd rather be :)

Especially when 90% of the flight is heading to old Trafford for the game later!

A lot of very nervous folk on that now thinking they maybe cancelled.

Serves them right, wasting their money......;) off topic, of course.....

Not particularly on our end. Maybe a question for someone from ATC. On an IFR flight plan and under full radar control its up to ATC to keep traffic separated, literally you can't see past the nose of the aircraft. Traffic will show up on TCAS though.

In the case of an Icing encounter, ATC will normally move traffic around the descending traffic.

Brest FIR has sigmet issued for severe turbulence FL230-340, similar for Santa Maria Oceanic FIR, Id say it could get rough
