You're hardly watching Home & Away for the story line?

I like the way they only employ good looking actors. The likes of Eastenders and Coronation Street have become obsessed with "real people". To such an extent to where good-looking people are under represented.

I only watch Hollyoaks, a much more prettier place and about a two deaths a week.

    Hot person A has problem.

    Hot person B gives advice.

    Hot person C goes missing.

    Alf organises a Search Party.

    The end.

I remember watching 'Home and Away' and 'Neighbours' when I was a kid. What always amused me was that someone would go off to the beach in a sulk or a huff, and when someone would go after them they'd be crying and getting all upset and angry and they'd tell the person to ''rack off'' and I just thought to myself, if you want to be alone to cry then why do you go to the beach where someone is bound to find you? I suppose they usually shared a room with 10 foster brothers/sisters so they wouldn't get any privacy at home either :pac:

    Grow a brain mate!

Nothing beat Neighbours in the late 80s / early 90s. NOTHING.

Irene is the local boozer. Once I saw her struggling with a nagan of vodka and when everyone found out the whole place went crazy. Here if you don't throw back nagans you're the one with the problem.
In all fairness she's a good actress though.

My missus watches it religiously. I catch a few episodes as a result. I've noticed a few things.

There's always at least 1 cast member in a coma
    Everybody has an iPhone
    There are no children
    Nobody goes to the pub

Any adult that lives in Summer Bay for a significant period of time will at some point foster or look after a teenager. Irene was such a bad mother she had her children taken from her and put into foster care. Then after living in Summer Bay for a couple of years she started taking in any teenage runaway that needed a home. The authorities never batted an eyelid over this.

I'll say one thing for Australian soaps; the characters can at least cry without snot flying everywhere. I remember catching a glimpse of Eastenders a couple of years ago when Phil Mitchell was crying about being addicted to crack. He moved his head and next thing a gigantic snot swung from his nostril and hit him in the eye.

They're both set in coastal Australia, and so this part is extremely accurate. :D

Thats been pretty much it since they started. It obviously works though, Home and Away is on the go for 30 years, I think Neighbours is even longer.

I'd like to have a suitable Alf Stewart soundbite to use, but I can't think of any.
