Hi G, I see Wild Garlic and Ed Mc have a new rival: Wild Garlic typical race report

Have you nailed down any aims for 2016 after your marathon debut? Best of luck with this, I promise not to be too mentory/naggy :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,447 ✭✭✭FBOT01

Good man G. Best of luck with whatever is next on the running agenda.

BTW as well as finding it a very useful training tool I found the training log on here as a great way to break my future running plans to Mrs Mc :D Just drop in the words Berlin, Boston, London, New York, etc every so often and Mrs KenneyG will figure it out eventually.

Looking forward to following your exploits.

    Start.

Raheny 5 sounds like it could fit in nicely as a starting point.

    5th Nov
As suggested by MrsMc, Quick over view.
First 5k ran 26 October 2013 at St Anne's Park Run ,so have. been running just over 2 years, Ran Raheny Shamrock winter
league 2013 1,2,3 miles road Races, really slowly with view
to doing, Raheny 5 mile in 2014With MrsG, Only started running
to keep G company, but found Really enjoyed it.

Ran About 20 Park runs in 2014 and 2 5 mile and 3 10k races
Mostly with better half so not really pushing it. Trained 2014 about
2-3 times a week , max 12 miles per week. Longest run 5-6 miles.

Start of 2015 decided to train for DCM 2015 , due to all post run
marathon talk at St Anne's Park Run, from FBOT,MrsMC,JK,Murph
    Annapr et-al.

2015 brought torn calf & both Achilles injured, due to not stretching
Warm up/ cool down and generally not having a plan. Have always
Had problem Achilles, so no running for 5 weeks prior to DCM training
Starting and jumped in week 3 of David carrey 22 week plan. Followed
Plan pretty much to letter, lots of pain in first month or so, but with
Plenty of work built mileage and Achilles up to complete first marathon.

Plan from here easy recovery November and get on 10k plan start December
Run Raheny 5 Mile in January, very soft 5 mile pb of 39xx so no real pressure,
    And assess as I go.

Ah I'll wait a while yet DG have to have a plan first. Mrs KennyG is blissfully unaware that G has a plan that goes beyond DCM 2015. It reminds me of me a year or so ago .... How the mighty have fallen !

    WHAT?

Cant believe you arent following my intriguing ...... ok I'll cut the bull :) Yep I started one back about 4 years ago and posted maybe twice in it, then started another one back at the start of '15 and then abandoned it too but brought it back to life there a few nights ago [toddles off to go and write something in it]

Will be watching Kenny. Your running career is about as long as my own and if 71 is your YOB then we're the same bliana d'aois. 2016 should be best year yet....

FBOT said I only used that as excuse any way, no more excuses
now, all down to my ambition or lack thereof

Ps. Reading your Berlin training log, was what spured me to
    Start.
