I'm looking too, as going second week in December.

Looking at a hotel (decent) for two people and approx €100-200 per night..
Hoping for somewhere central.. it's hard to judge as we don't know what areas are what :)

There's currently a Groupon for the Best Western Delphi, not a bad spot

    https://www.groupon.nl/deals/ga-best-western-delphi-hotel-6

In Dutch though so use the translate function in Chrome.

For those on a budget, I'd absolutely recommend the Hotel Van Onna on the very picturesque Bloemgracht canal in the Jordaan.

It's about three minutes walk from the Anne Frank house & the Westerkerk & a 10 minute stroll over to Dam Square.

airbnb is better value than most standard hotels in Amsterdam.

I know this is expired but there is still plenty of seats for a lot of dates for €30 return. Few of us just booked for late january.

I stayed in ibis central. It was €180 for triple room. The rooms are small but all I did was sleep and eat there. Location is fantastic right beside central train station. 5 min walk into Dam which is central part of city.

Ryanair sent a link for hotels that I found competitive or at least on a par with last minute. Com.

They seem to be gone already. Couldnt see anything to buy on times when there was ticket info.

    How much are they normally?

Also heard some good experiences with this:

    https://www.withlocals.com/experiences/the-netherlands/amsterdam/

Kind of like AirBNB/Uber except with experiences/things to do run by local people in Amsterdam.

On that budget you have your choice. Look at booking.com for hotels.

I normally stay in an apartment to have a lounge and cook the odd toastie. Staycity apartments have plenty of choice and very professional.

Best areas IMHO or museumplein, leidisplein, and jordaan. Stay away from the dam square area, certainly go see it, but it's full of stags etc.

Get a 3 day tram pass and hop on hop off.

Which days are you going? I had a look Nov 18 still has some tickets on 1pm and 1.20pm.

Yesterday when i checked it was out of stock. so just keep checking everyday as spots will eventually open up.
