5M in 46 minutes today. Pace felt nice and easy, but knee tendons were a little tight afterwards. This stems from my hip flexor and quads and had it before the race, so no real surprise and expected it to be honest. Just need to schedule a physio visit and then the reduction in training should heal this in no time.
Am not planning any consecutive days training for another week at least, so hopefully legs will continue to recover / strengthen..

1.6 miles for me tonight. Felt FANTASTIC!! Very, very slow at 16min/mile pace but was more about getting out there and finally moving. Aaaahhhh bliss!!

Sport massage tomorrow, also (dare I say it) looking forward to it ðŸ˜!

5 miles done last night. Started easy, and got faster each mile as I warmed up. Felt great, and I'll probably head out for 3 tomorrow and 8 on Sunday.

More Paula :) Again - getting spookier - flicked open her autobiography this morning and found this:

It was on the occasion of her 2nd place in the 10 000m at the World Championships in Seville in 1999. She set a new Commonwealth record, 30:27.13

"The race in Seville drained me and I needed a week to recover and for my legs to feel normal again. Though that was just a few years ago, I wasn 't as knowledgeable about recuperation as I am now. I did not know that even with the week's rest, the recovery would be less than 100 per cent. Yet after a good run, all you want to do is get out there and try to set new personal bests. Two weeks after Seville Raced a 1,500m in Glasgow. I finished third in a reasonable time, but...Before the season's end I raced again in Berlin, in Munich and...the Great North Run...but it was a race too many and I finished an average third. In those last three races there was nothing wrong with my effort and determination, it was simply that Seville had taken something out of me that could only be replaced with proper rest. " (Paula Radcliffe My Story So Far, pp. 205-6)

    So there ;)

    Have you a bike though?

I do, so I might go for a quick dip and then cycle to the park for a run like.....

    Don't worry. I am a runner!

I never wanted to do a marathon, but I always wanted to do a tri, once I did my first half marathon though that went out the window and here I am. I would like to do a try a tri, and swimming is going to be used for crosstraining anyway, and sure anyone can cycle a bike - been doing that since I was 4. So I wouldn't even need to practice much if I did do one >.>

    *side-eye*

Anything which involves a 3.8km swim and a 180km bike ride before running a marathon makes you a bit more than a runner :pac:

Think you need to get a new book, there seems to be a history of mismanaged

Just in from my first run since the big day - 3 miles easy

The first mile my legs were like "wtf?" but after a stretch at half way they were grand for the last mile.

My legs still feeling tired.did 3 miles easy last night even left the watch off. Ended up walking a bit they are still tight in places. Had sports massage Monday night legs felt great after. Did some stretching and foam rolling last night. Finding it so hard not having a plan to run ( I know it's coming!!!) no run reports to read no strava feeds to look at ..... Serious hole in my life .... :( Who would have thought running would become such a part of it. Even went up to watch the fit4life 2 miles race in raheny shamrocks last night to support MrsKennyG in her PB attempt. Anything to avoid house work !!!

Up until last Monday, I had never* been to Crumlin before. However, I did notice the iconic Children's Hospital just after midway when we were running and recall saying to my running buddy that I had been lucky enough never to have been there.

In an odd twist of fate, my little fella had a little schoolyard accident yesterday, and hurt his wrist. So, I got him checked out this morning and we were referred to Crumlin! I actually had to look up how to get there, as "follow the DCM route from Merrion Square" was not really going to be an option. :o

A very nice nurse sorted him out and I couldn't help myself and said: "the last time I was in this area, I was running the marathon out there!". She smiled and said "me too!". Funny how things come full circle :) Obviously we drove the route home as far as we could.

The young man is fine, bravely wearing his cast and secretly relieved he doesn't have to wear a sling to school (slings aren't cool apparently). He is just annoyed he can't go out to play hurling.

*B.t.w. in all honesty, we had also ran this part of route as part of the 20M Novices run, but that day I had no idea where I was (and didn't notice the hospital).
