one has only to look at many " causes" , some not too far from home, to see that there are always a cadre of people that will fall for the party line hook line and sinker. its where we get the term " nothing like the zeal of the converted " etc.

many terrible attricites have been carried out in the name of one " cause " or the other . ISIS is no different in that regard.

She must have had some kind of Hitlerish mesmeric power over that family for them all to abandon all reason in that way.

She is a big PSYCHO! How could she influence and threaten her own family like that????

I once met a red bearded Dublin guy who seemed to have become a Muslim in a weird kind of Dances With Wolves transformation.
He was hanging around with some shady Muslim guys at the GPO who were actively trying to convert people to Islam and he seemed like a complete loon. When I hear about Westerners who have gone full jihadi my blood runs cold thinking about it.

Converts are often the worst and most fanatical of adherents, they're typically damage individuals desperate for some kind of certianty and direction and a pretty absolutist form of Islam gives them that.

Anybody watch 'My Son the Jihadi' on Channel 4? I'd reccomend it. It's terrifying how a nice, middle class, white schoolboy can go from shy kid to sombody that films themselves executing men women and children.

To listen to his 13yr old 'bride' explain to his mother how she should be happy that he had died in the service of Allah was bizzare, and it was hearbreaking to listen to his mother tell her that sadly she rather presumed that he was burning in hell for what he had done.

There seriously needs to be sectors of the earth set aside for these idiots to reside.

That's all well and good until they reproduce and some innocent baby becomes a victim of their stupidity.

I hate to bring Hitler into all these discussions but people in Germany were normal before he came to power and then the majority of them would have followed the lunatic to death for a time! Propaganda is a powerful thing

Pity you don't get as aggressive recruitment drives for the western culture.
Maybe its because if we say anything against any other culture we are immediately called racists and told to be quiet.

Or when they do decide to come here because of how great it is people complain. You can't have it both ways.

well no germany had come through a period of enormous upheaval, with massive financial turmoil and could with a struggle with radical Bolshevism. Hilter merely presented himself as having solutions ( which he did ) and a " grateful : electorate looked no further

in that regard ISIL is not dissimilar, it exists because of the chaos and disruption that has gone on and they are a product of the Sunni Shia divide, irag acts as a protector ( of sorts ) for the Shias, driving the Sunni population into the hands of ISIL

ISIL isn't comprised of lunatics, it a reaction to a situation , that otherwise would not get anything other then fringe support

The two main problems with Islam which set it apart from the other big religions are:

    1. Islam claims to be the last and final revelation of God. This may not sound like much but you can see its effect in a certain predisposition to fevor and a lack of compromise in some sections of the Muslim world. A claim to finality is always dangerous.

    2. The punishment for apostasy (leaving Islam) is, to this day, death. No further discussion required.

I'm not saying the claims of Islam are any more ridiculous than those of any other religion but it's the kind of stuff above that sets it on more of a collision course with reason and modernity.

Yes, It's certainly better than fundamentalist Islam.

Many are not deciding to come here by choice.

But if they do, they should adapt and integrate. Not keep preaching and converting and shouting that your racist if you dont like it.

A bit rich of her to tell her mother she had no entitlement to any opinion. She seemes to be well endowed with opinions herself.
I believe rhe solution for these silly females who embrace Isis is to let them off to Isisland and don't let them come back. . As my grandmother used to say, love is blind and marriage is an eye-opener.

The poor mother was so innocent as to be asking about a vegetable garden and if she could bring the cat and appears to have been trying to please her daughter but not been planning any acts of terror, but has now died in prison. That is horrible and I feel so sorry for her.

Exactly what I was thinking. Heartbreaking. That little **** of a daughter

Is it such a big leap to go from avowedly Catholic to avowedly Islamic really?

If when you say 'avowedly Islamic', you are talking about ISIS, then yes. Yes it is.

Well we don't know how "catholic" they were, and in any case, its more of an expedition by plane and sea than a leap.

500 years ago the Spanish inquisition was pretty hardcore.

    I agree and that's a valid point.

It could easily be argued that Arab world and large parts of Africa are almost that far behind in terms of societal development and the West had a head start.

    That being said, **** ISIS.

What does that have to do with what ISIS are doing in the name of Islam. Do really think there's similarities between radical Islam and the Catholic Church in 2015.

Yeah, all that "turn the other cheek" and "love one another" stuff is totes the same as murdering anyone who doesn't agree with you!

500 years ago the Spanish inquisition was pretty hardcore.

Perhaps you should actually look up the numbers and the facts.

The Inquisition technically had jurisdiction only over those professing to be Christians.
The courts of the Inquisition were extremely fair compared to their secular counterparts at the time.
The Inquisition was responsible for less than 100 witch-hunt deaths, and was the first judicial body to denounce the trials in Europe.
Though torture was commonly used in all the courts of Europe at the time, the Inquisition used torture very infrequently.
During the 350 years of the Spanish Inquisition, between 3,000-5,000 people were sentenced to death (about 1 per month).
I believe they were actually responsible for far fewer deaths then that though because you could get off by recanting your heresy.

That's pretty much a good week for ISIS...........

The reality is that there was, despite what people imagine, never any kind of 'Catholic ISIS', in fact if you want any Christian movement that came even close to the ballpark, that would be the Protestant Reformation in England under Henry the Eighth, they spent a lot of time burning books, destroying statues and burning people at the stake.

In short, most peoples image of the Spanish Inquisition is based on Monty Python rather then history, but then most people are pretty dumb.

How do those female ISIS troops fight when they're wrapped up in their bin liners? Won't they stand out like a sore in the desert?

I wouldn't think they would be fighters. Maybe posers for instagram and no actual shooting
