Just noticed a drone overhead and spotted its a 757 from Bulgaria and seems to be heading for Shannon. MC530 is the number.

Its a National airlines jet and fr24 didn't have the destination info. Is this likely a cargo flight? Just curiosity :)

Edit: well this is interesting.. I checked the flight history of the plane and its been to Guantanamo...

National do a lot of military charters, so its reasonable that it has visited a US military airfield!

There's a Gulfstream 6 doing a racetrack pattern at FL40 over Athlone, dunno what he's up to. Point of departure was Teterboro in New York.

Very high to be holding for an airport in Ireland, surely? No 77s if he was burning fuel? Didn't know there was a holding pattern over Athlone?

Why would he squark 7700? In the VIP world its quite likely that the VIP said land in London and not Moscow, so in order to get down to landing weight he has to burn off fuel and its easier to do it in quiet Irish airspace rather than the UK.

He's also circling at near cruising speed, as opposed to holding speed

IF the intention is to burn fuel, then you wouldn't hold at the best lift/drag speed.

Just left the hold so will be interesting to see where he goes, its N113CS

Anyone else noticing an issue where a point in a route is way off? I'm seeing it on roughly every second aircraft I click on.

Edit: Never mind, I hadn't refreshed the browser in ages and it was showing where they were 20 minutes ago as the last point and where they are now as the second last point.

    RWY06 RVR is 250m (limit: 750m).

Fixed that for you. Cat2 is only available on rwy24, the reason for the increased RVR required on rwy06 is that it has a shortened approach lighting system. Similar to Corks rwy35.

In that case they would have used RWY24 I assume? There wasn't much of a tailwind?

Yep that's right. Once the tailwind was within limits at landing.

Must be a test flight. Using 990 callsign. These are used for test, positioning flights. Up good and high too, FL 390

    Hi Mech1

Do you work in the Irish or UK security services, you seem to have good connections.

Shame there isn't a Liveatc feed there, I know it's ridiculously quiet down there but still it'd be a novelty for me :p

That doesn't look like a go-around, no approaches made. I think they are just swinging around to make an approach from the west.
