Red Sean gets it. Most, incorrectly say a Reliant Robin.

To be pedantic, it's a Reliant Regal Supervan III.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,917 ✭✭✭red sean

Apologies for not being back but i have to admit I completely forgot about this thread. I had a 'senior moment'
I'm useless at setting questions and wouldn't be capable of even remotely testing you folks, so if someone would continue the thread i 'd appreciate.

    Again, apologies for stalling it.

Who or what is the origin of the technology term "Bluetooth"?

Dammit I have heard that somewhere, I will just have to patiently wait until it surfaces from the porridge-like mass that is my brain :)

Go on Looksee. I know that you know the answer to this one. Really, YOU DO know this one!

It might be surfacing, but it is not here yet...

I have a very vague and woolly notion it has something to do with a Norse/Viking chief, but i am not sure if I am making that up!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,034 ✭✭✭garancafan

Yes. Looksee is largely correct I think. To my recollection he was a Finnish (as is Nokia) king who believed in settling disputes by dialogue rather than by axe! Whence the name Bluetooth I have no idea.

Close enough. Harald Bluetooth unified groups of Danes and Norwegian who previously did not communicate with each other, thus ericsson used his name to designate a system that make appliances talk to each other

The Irish harp used by government (and Guinness ) is a representation of which actual harp?

    Brian Boru's?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,740 ✭✭✭✭looksee

The harp was thought to be Brian Boru's but is now considered to be approx 14th century. It is now known by the name of the place where it is kept - which is where?

    Sticking on the old Ireland theme, fill in the blanks;

On January 6th, 1592 Art O’Neill, his brother Henry, and Red Hugh O'Donnell made a bid for freedom from ______ ______. It was the middle of winter and Ireland was held fast in its icy clutches but they hoped to reach the relative safety of the remote Glenmalure Valley over 50km away.
Ill equipped and underfed they were the only prisoners ever to successfully escape captivity from _____ ______ but it was an ill fated journey with Art O’Neill dying from exposure only miles from his goal.
