Any bargain laptop stores (online or around Dublin) or any once off offers?

I've been waiting patiently for some good laptop deals to come up on bargain alerts but nothing for a while it seems.

I suppose I'm on the lookout for what would be a decent work computer, but to spend as little as possible, whilst also having reasonable specs.. minimum 4GB memory, but preferably 8GB, a fast processor such as intel i5 dual core or better (recent gen), I'm not too worried about storage capacity, 250GB would be sufficient, and screen size isn't a major issue, what I'm really after is just a quick and reasonably powerful machine.

All of this possible for around €300-€350?

If you can get an I5 for €300-€350, you'll be getting a good bargain.

No, because the profit margin on a cheap laptop is tiny.

You are not going to get a recent generation i5 for that money, ever. Give up. Buy something else.

You might get something near that with amazon.de warehouse deals if you keep anneye out. Theyvsometimes have a few bargain Lenovis in there though you may have to look at previous gen i5s. As someone said though you're asking a lot for the money without making significant compromises -an i3 might be more achievable and upgrade ram later.

Other posters are right. Very hard to get deals with laptops. Our teenagers searched and searched and their pals were in same position.

Chrome books are a bit of a scam... Price looks great but then you realise it doesn't really do anything and its not even a phone!

The A4 processor is a steaming heap of dung compared to the processor he's looking for. The 255 is available with a Core i5 but for nearly twice the price.

Lenovo's business machines are very well made, they're effectively IBM thinkpads.

Whatever you buy, please fit an SSD if it doesn't come with one - I have a 128gb in my i3 based laptop and it's the single best upgrade I've ever done.
