Red Group is pretty packed. I'm gonna guess Halep and Radwanska make the SFs there but wouldn't be surprised if Pennetta does. Sharapova hasn't played a lot since Wimbledon so it'll be interesting to see how healthy she is. I'm expecting Muguruza to make it out of the White Group. Looking forward to seeing how she goes in her debut in singles and doubles. Toss up, for me, then between Kvitova and Kerber.

I'm probably completely wrong on all my guesses!!:D

I'm not convinced Sharapova will actually play, wouldn't be surprised if she's struck a deal just to show up and promote the tournament. Kvitova and Halep are in horrible form since the US Open. Pennetta hasn't played much since her win in NY and clearly has her eyes on retirement now, whilst Safarova is still recovering from her recent infection. Radwanska has been pretty decent throughout the Asian swing, but is still in the midst of her worst season in quite a while. Which leaves Kerber, who's pretty decent too, and Mugurza, who's obviously been excellent, but you could hardly depend on her either. So yeah.. who knows what's gonna happen.

Nadal scraped through against Rosol yesterday in Basel 1-6, 7-5, 7-6. It was 7-4 in the tie break and Nadal had a 3-0 lead at the start of the set. I actually thought Rosol was gone mentally when he lost his serve at 4-2 up in the second.

He'll win the whole tournament now he will .. he always does when he wins matches like that he has no business winning.

I was going to say that this would depend on how interested Wawrinka is in the winning the tournament and then I seen he was knocked out yesterday.

Absolutely thrilled by how well Sharapova has played this week. I honestly thought she'd struggle to win a match.

I wonder how much of a motivating factor Serena's absence is to other players?

I was thinking the same thing. Has to have been a factor. Aga vs. Petra in the final. Good match between Radwanska and Muguruza earlier!

First Fedal match in about two years tomorrow in Basel final.
Will be interesting to see if Federer can get one over on his ex-nemesis, seems likely given that's its indoors in his back yard.

Good god, Kvitova/Radwanska final? What an utter mess. Really thought Sharapova was gonna swoop in during her nemesis' absence and take the title.

Not an absolute chance , if Federer could play like he does v murray or Djokovic he'd beat him in 2 - unfortunately he turns into a big girl when he plays Nadal .
Nadal in 2 easily - bookies won't even take bets on it .

Nonsense, Federer is a far superior indoor hardcore player, even at 34 years old.

Sure he is , point is he goes mentally weak when he plays Rafi

I think he'll win comfortably today. Time will tell.

Sooo, did we all see this on Twitter last night?
    https://twitter.com/geniebouchard/status/661303458402799616

    https://twitter.com/CaroWozniacki/status/661333535333220352

Most have jumped to the conclusion that Caroline wasn't hacked and Genie is just a massive bitch. Personally I don't think that Caroline sent those messages, but it does kinda beg the question how did she not notice that someone else was sending messages from her account for over two months? Genie most be very confident that Caro's account was hacked... otherwise it's pretty mean.

The weird thing is that someone would hack her account and only use it to send really kind of nice DMs to Bouchard.

I suspect it was probably some creepy Bouchard fan who was desperate to get her attention, and thought by pretending to be another player they might get it. At least I hope so for Caroline's sake!

Why do so many people online obsess over Bouchard?

People online obsess over everyone. There are people online who will find out where you live and track you down if you dare say anything even remotely discouraging about Djkovic. The same for Nadal, Sharapova etc. etc.

Bouchard's just getting a lot of attention this past while because she had a great season in 2014, was hyped beyond belief by the WTA and then had a massive flop of a season. People love to see her fail and other people feel the need to defend her to the death.

Absolutely gutted. I should be on my way to Paris this morning to watch the last 3 days of the Paribas Masters, but due to complications after recent surgery I've had to miss out. Lucky that I've only lost out on flight tickets, as you can sell your match tickets back into the system via Viagogo.fr, so I got all my ticket money back. Didn't pay upfront for the hotel on booking.com, so claiming for travel insurance now for the flights. I just hope Roger doesn't retire before this comes around next year. Looks great. With members of the audience playing a game against Murray for example. Look a really good lineup again this year.

Ha, Murray beats Goffin 6-1 6-0. A statement of intent ahead of Davis Cup if ever I saw one!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,919 ✭✭✭RosyLily

Ah that's so crap!! Hope you're feeling better whiterebel. I don't see Federer retiring anytime soon so there's always next year.:)

I thought this Paris tournament had been moved in the calendar to February... or did that not happen?

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,794 Mod ✭✭✭✭yerwanthere123

^ There was talk of it but it never actually happened. Giving a week off between Paris and the tour finals seems to be a better solution for all.

Remember three years ago Janowicz made the final in Paris? Shame nothing really came of him, he was looking good for a while.

Sharapova is writing an autobiography, due to come out some time in 2017. Could make for very interesting reading!

That sucks, but probably not the best place to see federer play in any case, that court is so slow it almost plays backward.
