Who is our nearest equivalent? The crazy hair, the money, the loudmouth, the ego, the politics? There used to be a guy in the Seanad with crazy hair but haven't seen him in an age. Who do you think is the nearest Irish equivalent?

    who cares?
Actually it just makes him a better equivalent to Trump, who has filed for bankruptcy four times - and as recently as 2009. But in the US they have a different way of dealing with bankruptcy that seems to one the plus side promote entrepreneurship, but on the negative end seems to be an easy way for the mega rich to just basically take their money off the table if their gamble doesn't work out.

Don't really care I don't think Ireland or the UK have a party that is a extreme as the US Republican party at least a mainstream one anyway, they make UKIP look like moderates.

Can't be, he hasn't been bankrupt, not that that stopped him defrauding the state of his taxes.

I don't think he was ever bankrupt - had he been declared bankrupt while he was a sitting TD, he would have lost his seat.
