Reliable Diesel commuter 10k budget

Hey Guys,

Looking for advice on what cars to be looking at.
I'm gonna be commuting along the m50 and driving out to athlone from dublin pretty regularly, so it needs to be able to do short journeys and long ones.

Was looking at the Ford Focus 1.6 and 1.8 TDCI Zetecs. But also the 2.0 Passat Highline (UK). Looking for lower mileage as this'll be my car for 5+ years.

What other cars are out there that i should be looking at? The 1.4 auris and corrolla are a bit outside my price range
