What do ye think about us being associated with the Palestinian struggle?

Funnily enough during the Israeli war of independence, Yitzak Shamir, who went on to become Israel's seventh prime minister, had the nickname 'Michael' after the Big Fella cos he tried to emulate the tactics Collins used against the British.

Palestinians have identified themselves with irish Republicans for years and vice versa.its not uncommon to see the palestian flag in Republican areas of northern Ireland.

Laugh it up but it's not easy. It's a tough decision whether to out the swastika on the left or the right of the Star of David.

Gas isn't it,game of flegs.as a side note I met a lot of Israelis around south east asia who just finished their army service and a lot of them would ask me if i was a Republican,don't think they're particularly fond of the Irish.

Sympathisers identify with each with other due to the brutal oppression both Irish and the Palestinians have suffered at the hands of an occupier. There's many similarities.

Loyalists up north would identify with Israel due to them being an occupying force and subjecting the natives to borderline ethnic cleansing.

Hopefully the international community can finally force the US to stand up for freedomand rights of a non white people and make Israel release the noose that the Palestinian people are in.

They won't give them a two state as the Israelis want to cherry pick all the best land on the West Bank and run them out of Jerusalem in their so called land swaps. The Israelis also won't absorb the Palestinians into a single state as over 40% would be Arab and with a higher birth rate, this would break the ideas of a Jewish state for Jewish people and f anyone else who have lived on the land for thousands of years.

Was over in Warsaw for the RoI game a few weeks ago. The West Belfast RoI supporters club were throwing a right strop because the couldn't find anywhere to hang their fleg. Everyone had a great laugh watching them bicker with themselves and other fans over it. They really love their flegs in NI.

...and as regards the ethnic cleansing comment, well that really does go both ways.

nobody said they were saints. however by stopping every chance of implementing change via peaceful means the israelies and loyalists are completely responsible for the support that hamas has and the IRA had. the loyalists via their friends the british government.

no it depends on facts. before bloody sunday the IRA had no support, or at least meaningful support. the bloody sunday and subsiquent murder by BA thugs gave the IRA the support it needed. just like the IDF thugs increase support for hamas with every slaughter and use of palestinian children as human shields

For example in 1969 it was estimated that the IRA had less than 50 volunteers in Belfast - by the end of 1971, in that city alone it was estimated that the PIRA could field 1200.

Bloody Sunday didn't happen until January 1972 - the PIRA were well on the offensive at that stage.

internment was small fry in recruiting volunteers compared to bloody sunday. bloody sunday and subsiquent slaughtering gave them enough volunteers to keep up a sustained campain. in 1971 they wouldn't have had enough to keep up a sustained campain dispite what volunteers they had. so actually i'm still right.
