Got a message saying all preview console will be getting the NXOE soon and if I don't want to risk it I should opt out.

What do ye reckon? Should I just stick with it or what? Only reason I've avoided it so far is I didn't wnt to risk not being able to play games at any point.

The most recent patch notes include this:
Games not launching: Certain games may fail to launch.
    Halo Master Chief
    Xbox Fitness
    The Crew
    Nightmares from the Deep

    Game and App Issues:
Game or App Crashes: Some users may experience game or App crashes and the game needs to be terminated.
Workaround: Reactivate the game or app in a crash or go to home and use the menu button to terminate the app for other cases.

Titanfall: Titanfall may fail to connect to Xbox Live.
    Workaround: Hard reset the console.

NFL Live App: When playing videos in the NFL Live App, the screen may dim after a short period of time.

    Forza 6:
Forza 6 may fail to update due to an installation stopped error.

Skype: Skype video calls may fail to transition to an audio call when moving to the background, causing the call to end.

Connected standby and apps: Apps such as Netflix and Twitch may crash to the dashboard after resuming from connected standby.

I can't see it getting any worse than this, it's improved massively in the recent build, and if they're going to roll it out to the entire group then they probably have a newer build that they feel is even more solid.

    :pac: wouldn't count on it.

BTW, Titanfall has worked flawlessly here since the nxoe dropped so the issues are not hitting everyone.

Destiny is my biggest time sink at the minute and have the Witcher waiting in the wings to play. Also have enough Credit on my account to buy two games so trying to decide whether or not to buy Halo :) Decisions Decisions.

Yeah feck it, think I'll stick with it too. Oh, and get Halo :)

Going to be jumping straight in myself I think, Once Trials is back Destiny will be a weekend only thing and Halo should take up the rest of my time for a while. Would be good if we managed to get 12 people on at once for some Warzone. Be sure to join the clan!

I never played PvP in Halo. I didn't have good internet when the games on 360 were out and didn't bother with the MCC version on the One.

    New NXOE update:

    Fixes:

    Game updates:
You should no longer encounter a “Getting ready…” message followed by an infinite loading screen when updating games (Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, Grand Theft Auto V, etc.) with an external storage device attached.

    Live TV:
When watching Live TV, the screen may dim after a short period of time.

The OneGuide pin doesn’t function. You can launch OneGuide using the app, voice commands, or from the OneGuide twist.

Australian users will no longer encounter a “Blocked Content” error on all channels when using the USB TV Tuner.

    Xbox Preview Dashboard:
You should no longer encounter freezes or crashes when navigating the Xbox Preview Dashboard app.

    Global speech overlay:
Suggestions are currently present in Global Speech Overlay.
Contextual commands are present in Global Speech Overlay.

There was a preview game called "Layers of Fear" added to the store earlier, looked OK from what I saw on twitch but not the kind of game you want to play a preview of as these are typically ones where the scares only work first time around.

Holy crap the latest build is so much slicker and responsive!

Used to take an age to sift through my games/apps and manage games, it's a breeze now

    The software development life cycle:
    1. Plan it.
    2. Build it.
    3. Test it.
    4. Debug and optimise it.
    5. Launch it.

Essentially this is why preview builds of anything are always buggy and slow until close to release.

Would someone mind testing if Halo MCC launches in this newest build? Greatly appreciate if someone could check as it was one of only a handful of games that couldn't last week.

Update today make this look like it's much closer to a final release version, everything I had problems with has been fixed, even that annoying controller problem I had. Speed wise I'd say it's nearly 50% faster too.

Lads I just got the update downloaded. I can join parties but I can't hear anyone speaking even though I can see the bubble around their Gamerpic flashing.

Has anyone any idea how to sort this ?

Edit: I can people and they can hear me in game chat.

Xbox Beta app for Windows 10 update:

At Team Xbox, we want to make it easy to connect with your friends on any device where you play games. This week, we’re excited to start previewing two more ways to expand your social gaming network and share your gaming content with your friends on Xbox Live.

    - Facebook friend finder: a top requested fan feature, we’re bringing two of your favorite social networks together—Facebook and Xbox Live—and making it easier than ever to find more people to play games and have fun with.

In the Windows 10 Xbox beta app (available in the Windows 10 Store here), look for the Facebook icon in the Suggested Friends area or Settings. Click it to link your Facebook account to your Xbox Live account and start seeing suggestions for friends on Facebook who you can add on Xbox Live. As your friends link their Facebook accounts to their Xbox Live accounts, you’ll see increasing numbers of Facebook friend suggestions, so be sure to spread the word!

    - Record your voice in your Game DVR clips on your PC: Windows Insider Program and Xbox beta app participants can now plug in a headset and narrate their Windows 10 game clips with their own voice using Game bar and Game DVR hotkeys.

To turn microphone recording on or off for a gaming session, just press Win + Alt + M. Want to turn microphone recording on for all gaming sessions? Go to Game bar > Settings > Audio or Xbox beta app > Settings > Game DVR > Audio. And if you like personalizing your Game DVR hotkeys and want to customize the microphone recording hotkey, do it here: Game bar > Settings > Shortcuts or Xbox beta app > Settings > Game DVR > Keyboard shortcuts.

Share your Windows 10 Store game clips with voice over commentary to your friends on Xbox Live through the Xbox app or any social network or sharing option on your PC.

Also lighting up in the Xbox beta app today are improvements in the way that gamers can find games and redeem codes. Our goal with these changes is to enable quicker and more relevant access to content.

    * The Store link in the Xbox beta app will now bring you to the Xbox Store—a launching point for browsing and searching for both Windows 10 and Xbox One games. The new interface allows you to see more products at a glance and brings you the latest crop of most popular Windows 10 and Xbox One games, sales and specials, plus your Deals with Gold and Games with Gold games.

    * In the Xbox One section of the redesigned Xbox Store, gamers will enjoy a persistent search box, reducing clicks between searches. Also, when you type in the name or a description of the Xbox One content that you are searching for, the search box will suggest some top matching search results.

    * Once you’ve found the content you are looking for, fans will enjoy quicker and more contextual actions. Own the content already? Click the ‘play on console’ button and kick off a game streaming session. Don’t own the content? Just click on the ‘buy’ button to purchase.

    - Redeeming codes gets easier too! Just like on Xbox One, when codes are sent to you in a message, simply click ‘redeem code’ to redeem. The ‘Redeem a code’ link in the Xbox One section of Xbox Store allows you to enter-25 digit codes right in the app as well.
Check out these new social features arriving in the Windows 10 Xbox beta app today and let us know what you think. Stay tuned for more updates coming to the beta app each month.

    Which controller are you using?

Remove the battery pack and press the Xbox logo button down on the controller for a few seconds. Then place the battery back into the controller and test party chat.

Will try those in a minute.

    Using the covert forces controller.

Yep restarted after the download and the Xbox kept saying I didn't have the licence for games and party wouldn't work.

Plunged out the Xbox and left for a few minutes. Switched back on and the games were working ok but I still can't hear anyone in the party but they can hear me.

    Build number in the photo.

I get this over the party screen.

Also have the Kinect Mic For Chat toggle on off.

The covert forces controller has a bug where if you have used the 3.5mm jack and then disconnect what ever was plugged into it and try to use a different headset with the XB1 you wont be able to hear party chat with the new headset until the battery comes out and then is reconnected.

Might just be one of the final things they're ironing out before the full release.

I don't think I've ever had a normal headset connected to the controller. The Stealth 500x is fully wireless so no wires to the controller at all.

I've tried pulling the charge pack and holding the power button down for a few seconds as suggested above and reconnected the controller again but still no joy :(

    Oh rly?

    Cheers, didn't know that.
