Should you accept a part time job if looking for full time?

If you are unemployed, looking for a full time job and would prefer full time, should you accept a part time job? If in an interview would it look bad to say you are looking for full time? Obviously you might still be continuing to look for another job and could potentially leave.

    Yes.

Unless the hours each day are so short that you don't get welfare any more ('cos you work more than 3 days/week), but aren't earning enough to live on.

Bird in the hand and all.

The employer will know you will be looking for more hours, either with them or elsewhere - even if you lie to them and tell them you only want part time.

you will find interviews will go much easier if you can say you are currently working part time and looking to go full time than you are unemployed and looking. It also really helps your confidence in interviews.

Working part time allows you to get your foot in the door of your chosen industry. There may be the chance to increase your hours later in the same role, or possibly move roles if someone leaves, has maternity leave etc.
