Urgent. Ebay 20% off code (min £20) goes live at 4pm TODAY

We told you about the rumour in this week's email, now eBay have confirmed it. At 4pm today, eBay will release a special code for use at checkout to get 20% off at eBay.co.uk* - we'll post it here then so bookmark this page.

The code is only available for use until 10pm tonight (Thu 22 Oct). The minimum spend is £20 and you must pay by Paypal. The code works on buy-it-now and auction goods, though auctions need to end between 4pm and 10pm.

You can only use the code once per person, but you can use it on multiple items (you must check them out at the same time). The max discount’s £50, which would be for a £250 spend.

I'm pretty sure the last few times I saw this type of sale it hasn't worked for various reasons - usually country specific/or worse, sellers knew nothing about it.

So make sure its available before you pull the trigger.

(I didn't know you could buy more than 1 thing at a time?)

It seems like eBay are taking the hit here, not the sellers.

My reading of multiple items was you must buy them from the same seller and pay for them at the same time

    Yep, eBay take the hit.

It worked fine for me last time with my parcel motel address.

    Cheers OP.

Just found the Terms and Conditions
1.This offer is open to targeted eBay.co.uk registered users, who must be UK residents of 18 years of age or older who hold a valid UK registered PayPal account.

Is this what you meant by using a Parcel Motel address? Did you set up a separate Paypal account with that address?

So, I need a Parcel motel address? And I can buy multiple items and still use the discount code provided they are from the same seller yes?

Any items worth buying from eBay? Who sells new electronics etc on there? Always though the majority of eBay stuff is used?

You need to have your ebay account registered on ebay.co.uk and your paypal account registered on paypal.com/uk.

Does anyone know if you can check if the code has worked before you commit to buying, as I don't want to get stung buying at full price.

I can get stuff delivered to Parcel Motel, but my credit card / PayPal is registered in the republic.

    Thanks

Add an item to your basket and go to the checkout from there so you dont have to commit to 'buy it now'

That max of 50 is a bummer as was planning to buy a MacBook.

I can put in the code and it's accepted at the checkout screen. But then when you log in to Paypal it sees it's an Irish account and won't accept the discount.

It's easy to set up a UK Paypal, with a fake/ Parcel Motel uk address, but I'm 99% sure you can't add an Irish debit/credit card to a UK Paypal account as the registered address for the card won't match the UK paypal address.

Any suggestions? A virtual prepaid MasterCard/Visa could bypass this, but then I guess you're stuck paying for postage from Parcel Motel in Belfast down to ROI, which takes away your discount saving esp. if a bulky item.

I was able to create a new PayPal UK account registering using a virsual credit card easily set up using Revolut and using Parcel Motel address as my billing address both on Revolut and PayPal

Must it then be posted to Parcel Motel or can you change the actual delivery address to Ireland at time of checkout?

Still struggling with error below on the PayPal side although I verified the Revolut credit card number, added a disposable phone number which I verified as well and has sufficient funds:

"We're sorry, but we can't send your payment right now"

I was on the phone with PayPal support on +353 1 436 9004 to try to unblock this but so far nothing. It is becoming quite a hassle...

I'm fairly certain you can change the delivery address on eBay to one in the republic.

Can you you not buy multiple items from different sellers? Does the discount work that way?

As long as you put everything in your basket and checkout in one go, this should work.

Guys has anyone bought anything using their existing PayPal acc (Irish card).I've gone to checkout stage, applied the voucher code the new GBP amount is reflecting the difference but the converted EUR amount on PayPal hasn't updated (showing full value). If i hit the trigger will I get charged full whack or will the discount be reflecyed on paypal.I've just access to my mobile at moment so going through the app

Tried it on the desktop. It tells me that the coupon or code (CUF-x) is invalid. You're not able to use it with this payment.

You'll get charged fully. I pulled the trigger and paid in full, no discount.
