That should never be the case though. The designer should use the real estate.

It does happen unfortunately though, the new last.fm site (which is still in beta but replaced the old site anyway ) is a great example of what not to do.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

Yeah it's a disaster, I don't use it nearly as much as I used to.

They're slowly reintroducing features but why they forced an unfinished site on people is beyond me.

Their facebook is hilarious, every post they make is filled with comments by people asking for the old site back :pac:

I opened up two tabs and compared the current version with the beta version of Boards.ie. Man, that beta version is pretty rank looking so I think I'll be keeping it old school.

Apart from not liking the general feel to it, I think the breaks between posts aren't defined enough, and also between a quote and the response to the quote. They seem to almost run into each other...

I'd use it if it worked.

Anyone else notice the /b/ in the URL when using beta? Boards is turning into 4chan :pac:

It looks like the Ulster Bank website.

Am I the only person who kinda likes it?

    Does that mean I'm retarded?

Actually no, I hate it. All squished to the left when there's so much space to the right, only turned on on some threads, which is weird and annoying, and the threads that I am subscribed to it can't seem to remember to not bring me right back to the beginning.

Clicked it, starting cursing my internet connection thinking it was slow to load, but nope...apparently it really is designed that way.

    Do not like.

Likewise I think that if Boards forced this, I would strongly consider not coming back. I really think they should just scrap the idea completely. I know they put a lot of work into it but it is awful.

I've kept an eye on the Feedback thread and as others said above, it really seems that negative views are not wanted, but that fits in with the general tone in the last few years where changes (like the current "temporary" menu structure - which has been there now for months) are pushed regardless of what the majority of users want/think.

Then you get the comments saying you have no right to complain if you're not a subscriber, or what seems to be more like wannabe mod auditions.

I spend far too much time here really, and I've even thrown in a few quid as a subscriber over the years, as I find it an entertaining and informative way to pass the time (even the IW/EU Migrant Crisis threads and AH can be a very good way to keep up to date on important issues when you filter out all the tit-for-tat or ****-stirring), but ever since they implemented the above-mentioned menu system I rarely venture beyond my Favourited forums... if they really force this latest "improvement" on me I probably won't bother with the site at all.

Not that this will matter as it seems I'm no longer the target demographic as Boards transforms into Facebook/Twitter... or whatever the new beta is meant to represent.

Or more to the point, the "Turn beta on" link in the footer of the site.

I think if we act early, we could possibly get a discount rate for a group purchase of eye bleach.

Now i have to............ i have to press it a lot now.
