grey area pay rates based on counties?

    Hi.

    Recently I was looking to move jobs, and was also toying around with the idea of moving to Galway from Dublin due to rising rent and expenses.
    There's a pattern I noticed that jobs pay at least 2k less salary compared to Dublin.
    I pushed for a salary I was on,or more, and was told directly by one recruiter that in Galway I wouldn't be able to receive how much I'm receiving now in Dublin.
    These were large companies who have set up their offices in Galway, but work for international markets.

    I'm guessing this is legal, but unethical?

    Why is it unethical
    Cost of Living is more in Dublin than Galway of course wages are lower

    Reason I called it grey area, is because we have minimum wage that an employer can't go under.
    Also I know people employed in retail who receive more than the minimum wage in retail in Dublin, and I know people employed in Galway in the same shops who receive the same rate.

    Pretty much the same goes for construction.

    Unfortunately I don't know anyone employed in other business sectors (office, admin, IT etc) in Galway, so I'm not aware of the salaries there.

    Its not grey. Once companies are above the minimum wage they can offer want they want (union rules aside)

    It's perfectly ethical , the cost of living is much higher in the city, so they need to pay more.
