A load of slicked pickled ginger and some pickled mustard greens. You'd know I'd been to the Asian supermarket lately:D Followed by a nutella coffee.

Someday I shall have a normal breakfast.......but today is not that day.

    Thanks for that.

How much celery/cucumber etc would you put in to make one smoothie?

    1 celery stick
    About 3" of cucumber
    A small knob of ginger
    A small handful of kale/spinach
    1 kiwi/ half apple

You can sweeten it with a tiny amount if honey or dates.
If you want a smoothie consistency add a bit of yoghurt

We woke up late and my poor husb had to run out without eating. We usually all have brekkie together, but it means it's a quick meal as he's due into work. Because he wasn't here for brekkie this morning we (baby and I) had a lovely long leisurely brekkie. Bran flakes with banana, sesame baguette toasted rounds with cream cheese, Greek yoghurt mashed with strawberries and I also had a little grated dark choc on top and a latte.

I saw an article in the Irish Times yesterday about making bagels so decided to give the recipe a go. I made the dough last night and left it to rise slowly overnight, then did the poaching and baking this morning. It was definitely worth it, they were fecken delicious.

We had them hot from the oven with cream cheese, smoked salmon, fresh dill and cracked black pepper.

My perfect over easy fried egg. Yummy. I get offended when people leave any yolk behind on their plate. Put the egg on some toast and none is wasted. :)

I didn't. :o I was making stir fry one night and there wasn't any fresh chillis in the shop, so I grabbed the next best thing. :pac:

Scrambled eggs that should have been an omellette LOL but was gorgeous. Two thick slices of home made soda bread (thanks Sis), one to mop up the eggs thing (!), and the other spread with real butter and that lovely rhubarb and vanilla jam from Aldi for a breakfast dessert.

    Mugs of tea.

    Bliss.

3 large sausages, 3 rashers, 2 fried eggs, black and white pudding and beans.

I figured that my system might be lacking in cholesterol.

    Carrot cake porridge??

Yep. It's so good. Of course it's not really cake but has the flavours and feels like you're having a treat. :D

Equal amounts (by eye) of grated carrot and porridge oats but I know my husband prefers less carrot. It works either way.
    Dash cinnamon to taste.
Vanilla to taste (I usually don't bother with it)
Handful raisins, although I use chopped prunes because I'm trying to get them into the baby. They work just as well. I'd imagine any fruit would.
Mix well and add your preferred liquid (water, milk, mix etc). Cook as normal.

Lovely served with Greek yoghurt on top and crushed hazelnut or seeds. I generally use flaxseeds.

Yesterday morning we also got a hotel breakfast! Standard fry, toast and fruit but they also had a pancake machine, with portions of maple syrup and nutella :)

I dusted off the old egg coddler and gave it another go. I still think it's more trouble than it's worth because it takes more than twice as long as a boiled egg.
