The modern thieves just steal the keys, they don't need any of the skills of the olden days.

Yes, it was easier in the past. No keys or hotwiring needed for one of these:

Well said, any changes to the car need to be notified in advance for policy verification and changes, obviously the insurance went up, since he didnt notify the change made to the car.......

I've found the mods of that type make no real difference to the premium, so long as the insco is told. Of course, bunging on a bigger turbo or a 50% larger engine would make a difference.

Robert, what line of business are you in, curious that you accumulated €32 k for a car and bought another no hassle ! (Given your lack of understanding of basic requirements )

Is it a BMW approved part and was it installed by a main dealer?

i don't think main dealers do them, my uncle has a jeep done, and it does increase power. It was a fellow from a main dealer that installed it , but on his own time at the weekend.

I don't believe him when he said he did not know it was installed, as he seems to know a lot about the box.

It must be great working in insurance when you find the small thing to make the claim not pay out, there has to be a bonus involved or some reward.

    BINGO!!!, You never declared it.........

You need to be truthful, we are getting lots of white lies here, when you take the policy you must declare points etc, if you don't and there's no claim that'll be fine, but make a claim and facts will be verified

What happens it that initially they will stone wall someone with a little technicality, this will get rid of 2 out of 3 people, those that will go legal they will pay out on.

did he renew the insurance and not declare the points, or did she get the points on her current insurance ? Do you have to inform the insurance company as soon as you get points on your licence ?

    These people are great Sleepers

The thieves were probably very quiet moving around and used sign language to communicate with each other.

Who is that eejit? If you go down the legal route they'll have to pay you something ?!?

And Joe saying he never heard of that ?

FFS, it's one of the main clauses on any policy when taking it out.

Making a false declaration is not 'a little technicality'. It is a criminal offence!

Some policies have in the terms you must contact them during the term of the policy if you get points. Most just ask you have you any points at renewal time.

Would depend on if you had the modification done prior to taking out the policy, if you took out the policy and then had the modification done or got points depending on the terms of the policy they normally only seek this information at renewal.

Much as the insurance companies would like to write the laws, they haven't yet been given the powers to do so.

You can ring the insurance company and inform the of the points issue as they can make the changes to the policy particulary at the time of renewal, hence why there always cagey about the "two week cooling off period" for insurance renewals..........
