I love Christmas, and I buy things ALL YEAR ROUND for it. And I even wrap them when I buy them.

If anyone has a problem with that, I'll beat them up.

I bring gifts to people during the year. When it means something to me. I will suddenly show up at a friends house with a gift for the first day I met that person - or I will show up with a bottle of tequila on the anniversary of their worst hangover - or I will challenge them to a game of something on the anniversary of a day when they or I beat the other at some other game - and so on and so on -

I am big on keeping dates on calendars that mean something to me - them - or even better - both of us.

All of which excuses me in the eyes of most people who know me from my most obvious foible. Which is that I NEVER acknowledge - or gift - anyone on official calendar days. No one outside my family gets anything on birthdays or Christmas - valentines or Easter - I am spared the rush of the hungry hoard during festivities.

And to my joy most people who know me well respond in kind. I never get gifts of phone calls at xmas or my birthday. Rather I receive them at points in the calendar that hold some relevance to me, the person offering it, or both of us.

I am sure hallmark would hate me if I was relevant at all :)

Plenty of time yet! Will start thinking about it proper in mid november but I have already picked up something for the wife and child.

I definitely want to do a traditional shop in town followed by some mulled wine and mince pies in a pub. Cant beat the rewards of a good christmas shopping session!

I do almost all my shopping online anyway (with the exception of the weekly food shop) and not really a Christmas person myself so the idea of going into town or somewhere like Blanch in the run up to Christmas seems insane to me.

But that said, Amazon has already delivered the stuff for the little fella in the last week so I'll probably wrap it over the weekend and that's me done :)

Yeah the 24th for me also, if I can't find everything I need at that time I just give people money. It's the best present of all really.

Keep an eye on the bargain alerts forum.

The half prices Lego Advent calendars went down really well.

I've nothing against people Christmas shopping any time of year, but talking about it as if it's an urgent rush in not even late October is madness. I won't start my Christmas shopping until next month, and even that's plenty of time.

One year I left it all until 23rd of December as I was sick, and I still got it all done. Wouldn't recommend it but you can accomplish loads under pressure.

Christmas shopping and gift-wrapping is part of the Christmassy experience, or at least the build-up to it - I can't see a point in it before any of that (unless it's for practical reasons like financial, getting the Santa thing done early, etc). After Halloween is more than enough time - it's seven or eight weeks feck's sake!

Fair play to all who get a thrill out of Christmas or any kind of shopping. BTW I'm female, but I must be a bit odd as I hate shopping full stop!

Christmas by mutual consent doesn't include family (over 18) or friend pressies. Whew, everyone was delighted by my suggestion, ahem.

So now it is just two grandnieces, two young nephews (Smyths vouchers) and Mum.

The OH and I don't do pressies either, but we take a break in the Canaries or somewhere nice in January instead.

I hope you all enjoy your Christmas shopping. Mine's done!

I always start my shopping in the first week of November; that's when I buy online things.
I went out today and bought everything else.
Just need to buy one more thing in town and I'm finished.
I like to do it early so I can get everyone's presents without worrying they're not available or sold out.
