Ken Bruce always plays a long song after the final round of 'Popmaster' - no doubt for a pee break and/or trip to the vending machine.

Either 'MacArthur Park' or a bit of Jeff Wayne's 'War Of The Worlds' :D

Yeah, I am slightly addicted to Popmaster of late. (BBC Radio 2, just before 10.30am weekdays). I never do well on the final '3 in 10' bit (Ken Bruce names a random artist and you have 10 seconds to name 3 of their hits

It's a great quiz, RTE should get Larry Gogan to do an Irish version.

    That Britpop era was unreal.

I was only on the fringes of it, I didn't get to many gigs, but having grown up in a very dull era it was electrifying.

TOTP, TFI, NME, Evening Session on Radio 1, Dave Fanning on 2FM, swapping taped albums with my mates, finally getting to see Oasis and Blur and a few others live, reading the UK Top 40 on Ceefax page 566 every Monday, then realising I could just about hear it live on Radio 1 on the Sunday, Noel, Liam, Jarvis, Damon etc etc etc.

I saw Cast last week in a tiny venue. Loved it. A stranger said to me at one point "It's just like being 15 again!" and he was dead right. Happy Days.

    'Inbetweener' still sounds great.

If a new band were 25% as good as Supergrass today, they would rule the World.

I prefer Grand Prix, but it's all good. Love love love TFC. Had a chat and got my pic taken with Norman Blake when he played in Whelans with Joe Pernice summer before last. He was sound as a pound.

    True! True!

Also, This went up on Youtube recently, a full edition of Top 30 Hits from 1996 ... imagine The Chart Show in primetime on Network 2 ... with a bit more Daniel O'Donnell, and bonus Wexford Hurling songs

Had this conversation (minus Supergrass, to be fair), with a mate a few weeks ago.

I don't want to admit it's just me getting old...there really are flip all good bands these days.

Remember hearing Kings Of Leon were the biggest band around a while ago. Is that where we've got to?

This Bluetones tune rules in any era.

    Ha, Britannia music club.

My mother lost some faith in me when I used her address and then failed to stump up the cash for the Boo Radleys and whatever else they sent me after I got all the Oasis stuff I could on the opening offer.

One of my favourite posts on the SNS thread (RIP) was when I managed to post a picture of Martin Rossiter and Morrissey and have it vaguely connected with whoever was on the show that night :D

And the "Top Ten Dance Tunes". Fields of Athenry Ibiza style. Rapid.
