Sweet. I might put mine back so!

Edit: actually, does that mean you can *boot* off both though or is the other just storage? ie. Can i have an OS on each?

They are both showing up in my BIOS so I suppose with a boot manager or selecting one over the other in boot order should work. I can't see any technical reason

Ok grand, the link not displaying any page for me, same as anyone else?
Reason I didn't go with yours cause I was afraid they wouldn't get anymore back into stock and wouldn't be able to get a replacement off them, did you just go with a refund?

It wasn't the unit the was faulty it was AC adapter in the end. But yeah just went with refund.

Wow, now realise what a bargain this was, getting it for less that half current price! Anyway, needs to be marked as EXPIRED

    Hi Guys,

I've been a happy owner of one of these for a few weeks using it as a HTPC predominantly running KODI and Netflix.

From the beginning I noticed that if I switched source from another input device to the Dell I'd get some alternating flashing green screen and grey snow but hitting the Exc button or rebooting the machine quickly restored the normal display. I reckoned it was probably some sort of screen saver/power saver setting which was causing it and resolved to fix it but never got round to it as it only was a problem intermittently.

Tonight things changed. No matter what I do all I can get is a continuous flashing green then grey snow screen. I've tried rebooting several times, unplugging all together and leaving it 5 minutes before rebooting several times and swapped the HDMI cable with others I have in use for other devices (and which work perfectly on other devices) without success.

Here is a video of what I'm getting.

Or here if the above doesn't work - https://youtu.be/LAju_FHqaSI

Any ideas other than reverting to Dell under the warranty?

Give a call to tech support or chat via support.dell.com.

If I could suggest something - tell them that there is no video at all, no sound as well - it is easier this way.

Not sure how CAR warranty works but sometimes they could go ahead with dispatch replacement as NBD.
Don't think they will replace just mobo but whole unit.

    Tom

    Shut
I left work but work is still in me ;-)

CAR - collect and return - courier collect unit for repair/replacement and then delivers new/repair one around week later.

NBD - next business day - engineer gives you a visit to replace parts.

    MOBO - motherboard, mainboard

    Tom

Tons of these sold everywhere. That's how Dell got $70bn for buying vmware ;-)

    EMC
Dell buying EMC , Vmware is just the icing on the cake.

I know EMC since I got iomega NAS back in 2008. But vmware is much more recognizable name in the world.

    Hi Tom,

Contacted Dell support yesterday and they are doing a CAR (see I'm getting the hang of this now ;) ) later today. It'll be 2-3 weeks before I get the replacement which is a bit lengthy and would be unacceptable if I was relying on the machine in any way but then if I was buying kit I or my business had to rely on I'd have gone for the NBD option on checkout.

Thanks for your help, much appreciated.

If you cannot talk about a product in the thread after you buy it, this forum would go pretty quiet.

    Anyone?

Did you download windirstat to see what's taking up the space?

How much ram do you have installed? That will determine the size of the hibernate file. Have you disabled hibernation?

Ah you did it on easy mode!

Adding a 2.5" SSD is a bit more involved. Buying the cable, cutting off tabs to make it fit. Freaking a bit when one of the copper lines lifts off the plastic. Fixing it. Plugging the cable back, crossing your fingers. Realising there are no screws to hold the 2.5 drive in place. Use blutack to "secure" it. Screw it all back together. Install Debian.
    Drink beer.

    :)
