Hope you guys can give me some help on here. When I left Ireland about 6 years ago I gave my car to my parents. It's a 2005 Focus with the 1.6 TDCi engine. It's probably got between 120-140K km on the clock.

It's failed the smoke test at the NCT. The first time there was a faulty turbo hose, losing pressure and and not running right. Thats all been sorted and it's failed again. They are at a loss of what to do next with it or what might be wrong with it. They usually get it serviced at a local indy mechanic. I can't say how good or bad the indy is though.

Nothing worse than being stuck behind a smoky diesel. Get your tractor sorted asap!

Get a tin of air intake cleaner take the intake hose off the turbo get someone to rev it up and hold at about 2k revs spray the cleaner into the turbo in bursts.

Then drive it hard for about 20 minutes at high rpm.

Or better still, don't. OP, if you're going to chuck anything in there make it NMMA TC-W3 compliant two-stroke oil at about 1:500.
