The SF and IRA chants are only usally included by idiots in night clubs, no need for it to be changed at Rugby and Soccer matches. As for Ole Ole Ole, yeah it may sound like a Battle Cry, but its our Battle Cry.

But it makes absolutely no sense. 99.999% of the time it's simply the words "ole ole ole" sang over and over again. It's generally sang while abroad in other countries but the words are Spanish, absolutely no relevance to Ireland/Irish. It's a stupid daft song.

How about The Irish Rover with some new words?

On October the eighth twenty fifteen
Shane Long hit the back of the net
We were cheering away that we completely forgot
That we weren't in the finals yet
    Etc.

Sing Scottish football songs at an Irish international match?

    How odd?

You mean sing Irish songs at an Irish match, some of which are also used by a club of Irish diaspora. How crazy does that sound?

Ole Ole been sung at any Irish sporting event indicates that the bandwagon is on full steam ahead.

Whats wrong with the bandwagon? The more the merrier tbh

Bohs have that. It's grand but it's very Dublin centric.

At half time at the recent Ireland, Germany match Tha Après Match boys finished their piece with the guitar riff from Put em under pressure with the crowd joining in just before the second half whistle. It was great, even the Germans joined in.

Boys of the Old Brigade or the way the Green Brigade do The Lonesome Boatman at Celtic Park would be good at Ireland matches.

Oh well thanks for that amazing bit of insight Fred. When we are at it could you point out exactly where I said they weren't a Scottish football club? Moreover, can you not be of Irish diaspora if you are Scottish, as you seem to be equating this to me calling Celtic Irish? And even moreover, my point was of the singing of rebel tunes at Ireland games for the atmosphere. How does Celtic adopting them make them Scottish songs, considering they are written by Irish people in Ireland and about Ireland?

I never heard the SF line till I moved to Dublin. In my stint up North the line was "Fcuk the queen" which seemed to make more sense (slightly).
