God damn it, ye have convinced me to get a Kinect now! Buying one second hand for 40 euro. Should have it by the end of the week.

So now what's the best things about the Kinect? What's it most useful for?

imo - it makes Xbox One navigation so much easier. "Xbox watch TV" as a voice command is so much easier than finding the specific pin. "Xbox On" switching on your TV, sound system, and UPC/Sky box is also tops.

Definitely have to agree here. Having lived for the last two weeks without Kinect, since my Kinect died, I see how much I am missing.
    • The TV, Saorview box and Surround Sound system turning on the same time as Xbox One.
    • Ditto for turning off everything
    • Voice commands: Xbox On, Xbox Pause, Xbox Play, Xbox Go to ..., Xbox Snap
    • Even Gesture Control for swiping through apps and videos.

I realise that none of these features are for games, but hey, it makes the experience of owning an Xbox One soooo much better.

Luckily, Microsoft have agreed to replace the Kinect Free of Charge so I should be back to the proper experience soon.

If you can pick one up for €50 in CEX or Gamestop.ie, then I would thoroughly recommend it!

554mb update available now for NXOE.

No patch notes yet as of when I post this but this is what I've noticed so far:

    - Community tab is now fully functional.

    - "Can they see my real name?" option when viewing a friends profile on sidebar.

    - Button mapping seems to be working I think

    - Seems to be a lot faster especially sidebar.

    - No more disconnecting wireless when turning xbox on.

    - Appear offline is fully functional again

Here's the fixes. Known issues are as long as my arm still.
Screen Dimming: Fixes for screen dimming issues are in this build

Media App no longer freezing: Media Titles such as Hulu, Netflix that were experiencing video stuttering and stopping have been resolved.

Browser: You should now experience significantly fewer crashes when using the Edge browser. Please help us test this fix by exploring your favorite websites! (such as cnn.com, yogaglo.com, kotaku.com, dailymail.co.uk, facebook.com, twitter.com, etc...)

    Live TV:
    • Cable/Satellite set top box compatibility should now be more comparable to the current Xbox One Experience. Please continue to report video playback and audio issues using Report a problem to help us improve the experience.
    • Dolby Digital surround should now function with Live TV
    • Favoriting is now supported for App channels.
    • The “Xbox Snap TV” voice command should now function correctly.
    • When resuming from connected standby the Xbox One media remote should no longer fail to send commands.
    • You should now be able to use voice commands to navigate in Live TV.

Controller Firmware Update: A new controller firmware update is available. Please navigate to Settings > Devices & accessories to download the update.

Console Boot: This build contains a fix to address issues with encountering a black screen shortly after the console boots up.

My Games & Apps: For users in China and Korea, My games & apps should no longer launch to a black screen and fail to start.

Home Screen: The tiles on the Home screen should no longer flicker when a disc based game is installing.

The patch notes don't seem to cover everything, as Misky has put up some things that aren't in the notes, but then again, Microsoft has seemingly chosen to class patch notes as optional.

Anyone else been using Plex? I've had huge amounts of stuttering on that app on the Xbox since updating to the NXE, or at least that appears to have been when it started.

Also, they have separately confirmed button remapping is in this build.

Can any of you confirm what exactly this means. I would be under the impression that for "Games" the developer would have to allow you to use remapping ingame?

Or am I getting the wrong end of the stick here?

You can change the buttons around to whatever you want, no restrictions as of yet.

I doubt it will change tbh. It's under "accessibility" options because it will help out those with disabilites a lot.

Thanks, but does this affect games? Like for example:

If a game is usually "Click left thumb stick to crouch"
Can this be changed to "Click B to crouch"

My thinking would be that each game would have to allow this to be the case inside the "controls" section. So some developers may not allow the use of custom controls.

There is no verification anywhere but my opinion I don't think there will be any restrictions in place.

Of course if you change a button you will have to remember you changed it.

Button remapping is on PS4 since March I believe & afaik there has been no restrictions.

If people really wanted, they could have always and still would be able to button remap regardless of devs allowing it with the use of 3rd party hardware, CronusMax for example.

Are all the buttons and triggers on the Xbox One controllers equal in terms of their range of sensitivity? Like, would you (for some hypothetical reason) be able to remap a trigger to the X button and then still use that reasonably well in something like Forza?

You're not changing it in game, you're changing it at OS level, so if you change A to B, then the game thinks that you've pressed B when you press A.

If a game has different controller settings, A will still be B, no matter what.

Ah so it is a change across the board that will affect each subsequent game launched.

The way I was thinking, I could use different controls for different games, but this will not be the case.

Do you think this is a valuable change? I am not sure if I would actually use it as I may be playing a number of games at any given time and while a change in controls might help one game, they might hinder another.

I would have to keep changing controls before launching the game I wanted to play.

Gah, you got in there before my sneaky edit, confusing myself with letters.

They may eventually build support for profiles per game, but at the moment it's just all or nothing.

    Also, triggers can't be remapped.

Personally, I won't be using the remapping, but as I mentioned before, it's great from an accessibility point of view.

do you mean a bumper (shoulder) button? the triggers in forza are for braking and acceleration, you can pull them halfway to prevent wheelspin etc, the button will be simple on or off so I dont think you'd do very well.

I suppose I'm thinking of the DualShocks which (at least used to) have pressure sensitive buttons as well as the triggers and bumpers.

I am having a problem with my controller.
Twice in the last month it has stopped chaging and then wouldnt go on even though it was fully charged.
I have the wireless battery pack charger thing and i took it out, put batteries in it instead but the controller would still not go on. If I leave it for a few hours or a day it works again though.
I got so annoyed with it today I nearly smashed it against the wall/TV
Anyone else having this problem? The controller not the anger!

Haven't heard of that personally. Try and update the firmware, otherwise its faulty and you should go seeka repair/ replacement from the original retailer. If you have no reciept then you can force a replacement from MS support as the controller should last longer than it has. Assuming you haven't been throwing it around previously of course.

Should be 3 options, language, locale and the last one is preferred spoken language - that should be set to English (UK) or English (us) etc

Same here too. On the up side, I don't have to disconnect / reconnect my wireless connection every time I turn on my console.

Yep that's the way it is set, I was just to lazy to type it all out, lol

Have you checked if there's a controller update available Max?
Most times, it won't notify you.
