    Hey,
    I've a budget of ~3000
Still on learner permit, so expecting insurance to be high.
Need a car for practicing ahead of test.
When I do get my full licence I would be using the car for occasional driving, around Dublin area, but not intending to use it for work commute unless I can't cycle.

Looking at 1L Yaris but not too sure - I know nothing about cars, appearance of the car means nothing to me, have no qualms about driving a small car!

    Any recommendations?

Thanks in advance for any advice offered!

Lots of Fiat Puntos in that price range. They're an easy drive and practical, also in a low insurance group (certainly the regular 1.2l petrol 8V engine is).

Think about putting a little money into the tyres whatever car you buy, especially coming into the winter. Standard steel wheels usually make that cheaper than flashy alloys.

You won't go too far wrong on a Yaris, the great thing with them is you pretty much can sell them for what you buy them for. Older ones are still making what they did 4 years ago.
